Ha ha. Well, they said it, not me:
"Remember all those times when you're growing up and your parents embarrased you? Well, this is payback time on live t.v.!"
(I loved it and thought they we're funny. I'm sure that their family loved it too!)

Get a room.
Mad Magazine? Man, I gave you gold and you come back with Mad Magazine? :^)
Jealous?
Count me as twisted too, I thought it was cute.
Hey! Wait! Don't blame this on age. Anal retentivism is not age activated.
Most of the people who claim youth is wasted on the young, haven't used their first well and probably wouldn't make good use of a second chance.
The Bush girls did exactly what they were supposed to do. Provide a contrast to the Kerry girls. The nervous, self-concious stage fright is something precious. It is in fact priceless and once lost cannot be regained. I know a lot of you look forward to the day they become polished stage performers in the grand Streisand/Sarandon/Garofalo ilk.
BUSH/CHENEY IN 2004
Great kids! I loved the shots at Tarayzuh and Kerry. Funny and subtle.
Finally caught it late last night. You're right.
They acted like any ol' regular moron's kids.
Agree with you completely. I was cringing through their whole performance. It was lame - lame - lame.
If Chelsea Clinton has made mono-Bono and Sex in the City jokes Freepers would have a field day with that.
They should fire whoever wrote their material.
Nice, isn't it? I just finished reading Barbara Bush's autobiography...enchanting.
They were working off of scripts prepared by the Bush campaign. It was an attempt to attract new voters and to show that George Bush can't be all that bad if his daughters are able to lampoon their parents. All very calculated.
As a 45 year old adult, yes the girls missed the mark.
But for 18 - 25 year olds, it might have pulled in a few more votes, and that in my mind was what it was all about.
So were we (my husband and I). It was like, oh please, get them off the stage.
Carolyn
I wonder if Laura read their speech before hand. Neither of them reflected the great parents they have, or grandparents! 21 is not young as they portrayed themselves. It was the wrong time and the wrong attempt. They almost acted as stupid airheads.
Something tells me if I said the same thing about the Kerry daughters you'd be patting me on the back. Try to set partisan considerations aside and look at this objectively for a moment.
I don't think so. Whoever did right it needs to be flogged.
Better yet, let's act like conservatives and not follow the liberal trend of having airheaded children up their giving speeches during these things.
oops--should read "write" it.
Just had a scary thought. Cheney is speaking tonight. I hope his lesbian daughter isn't up there tonight trying to embarrass him.
