It might come as a surprise to you but Southern Traditionalists hardly needed further motivating.
We are larger in numbers this go around than 4 years ago and we were pretty awesome then.
(humbly submitted)
Did you see the Luntz undecided dummies after Zell spoke....and hardly on a righty network.
ZIG ZAG MILLER and MATHEWS DUEL !!!
IN MSG in October, 2004
LOL.,
Looks like Daschle has Pi$$ off Zell.....he looked angry w/rats
I'm hiding in my office-library...no TV....wife and kiddies are in deep zee.
If it wasn't for Southern Traditionalists, I don't know who some of the rhetoric was for. On radio, someone (don't know what network) described it as "what Bill Clinton described as the bubba-factor" and for "angry white men."
Dear Hubby wired this room for cable and put a little TV in here for me after the 2000 election when I went absolutely nuts. Now, all I need is a potty. Hon?
Between tonight and the Michelle Malkin ambush (which even tonight he suggested she said Kerry shot himself--something NEVER EVER alleged) it's impossible to ignore his character: What a sexist, low-brow, ill-mannered JERK!
It reverberated well here on this forum except for a handful and we are hardly all Southern, male or angry....though I am...lol
Those who did not like it have all been from behind enemy lines and are uneasy since they get hammered by the left daily which I can relate to having lived in Blue zones.
I can tell you that the red zone is solid this year...even more so than in 00.
I don't listen to Old Media so don't have a clue as to how they reacted except to assume they hated it but then they hate everything that's not DNC ordained. I did see the Chrissy Fit though.....amusing.
I would not refer to it as rhetoric either....it was quite factual actually and plain spoken though intense.
I think the speech was to fire up the base and for those few social conservatives that might be on the fence and those social conservatives who are not Southerners (we don't need selling to....white Southerners will go at least 2/3rds W...up to 80% in some states)....Rocky Mountaineers and Midwesterners that needed a national security tune up were also the target I'd wager.
I have never in my scant 46 years seen the Old Media so partisan.....actively campaigning for Kerry in essence.
Chrissy is just one of many and he bullies folks routinely. This time he got his hand bit. I think he like it though...good for his lousy ratings. I've seen Pat Caddell (oddly another Georgia Dem..lol) put Chrissy in his place too but not nearly as angry as Zell was. Zell's exchange with Matthews was somewhere between W the Elder's spat with Rather or Clinton and Britt Hume and the extreme of Agnew or Muskie on Loeb .
I'm sure there have been harsher exchanges (?)
Matthews has had it coming for a long time.
As to the MSM,they turned this nation against the Nam war and they think that they can repeat it this year;but, they can't pull off now, against the anti-Afghanistan/Iraq battles.
I'm a bit older than you are,so I remember how hard they tried to beat President Nixon, from the time he was the V.P.!
Don't worry...they are dinosaurs and won't win.Mr.nopardons is positive that the president will beat Kerry by 58%. :-)
Mr NP is right.
I just hope we don't get complacent...and I know the Left and the media are going to unleash hell.
can you recall a harsher exchange in the TV era than Zell-Chrissy or Muskie's meltdown (but Loeb was not in front of Muskie was he?)
Granted, that was showboating in Congress, but it WAS televised. And yes,I was a little girl, but my mother made me watch the ARMY MCCARTHY HEARINGS. :-)
Mr.np is usually correct;though no matter how many times he says it,no,he really isn't "perfect"...just pretty close to it. LOL
How about what Dan Rather did to GHWBush?
I had thought of that one earlier...and Hume-Clinton.
pretty rare to see a US senator light up a talking head.
Zell had his number....all that Max Cleland crap...man ...Matthews was really trying to score.
Allegedly staccato synapse Chrissy got bested by a 72 year old man.....he should be ashamed.
Someone very much much needed to hit Chissy upside his head.Zell was everyone's champion tonight and did it. :-)
Why is Scarbough out of the House?
I can't remember.
Just about to log off and too tired now to remember....sorry.
Zell was right on, good for him for telling Girly-man Chrissy to "shut up". He asks guests questions & then talks over their answer all the time.
BTTT!!!!

Its called HONOUR , something you don't have.
%%%%%
Wonderful comments explaining what a southern gentleman is.
Chris Matthews has always had a contempt for Americans born below the Mason-Dixon line. It really is his worst Achilles heel (among others). He has convinced himself that he is smarter than southerners just because he was born in Philadelphia.
Based on last week's treatment of Michelle Malkin, he does not have any respect for Americans with nonEuropean heritage, either.
I was so proud of Zell!
