Katie Couric Trashes Michael Moore! Would Rather Arrange Socks than go out with him!
The Today Show

Posted on 09/01/2004 6:06:30 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

In perhaps the most stunning morning news show interview I've ever seen, Katie Couric just got through thoroughly trashing Michael Moore.

She began by criticizing the scenes in Fahrenheit 911 depicting a pre-war Iraq of children peacefully playing and weddings taking place. "Wasn't that misleading?" Moore claimed he only used the footage to show the kinds of people killed by US bombing, not to suggest Saddam's Iraq was a "utopia."

Next, Katie said that "many people say the Dems don't want you to be the face of the party."

"Who said that?" demanded Moore. "Well, Tim Russert for one," answered Katie.

She added: "let's face it, many people think you're a jerk."

An obviously hurt Moore responded: "but you don't think I'm a jerk, do you Katie?"

Katie refused to come to his aid: "well, my views aren't important, it's the views of the Dem party."

"But come on, Katie, you know me."

"I really don't know you very well."

"But, come one, from talking after the shows, etc. You don't think I'm a jerk, do you?"

"I really don't know you well enough to say that."

Finally, in a scene so amazing I could hardly believe my eyes and ears, Moore virtually asked Katie out on a date, and was shot down with a classic co-ed line.

Katie asked Moore if he'd be going back to the convention and Moore said he would, probably tonight and tomorrow. Then Moore added: "will you come with me, Katie?"

A shocked Katie replied: "No," then, incredibly, added: "I HAVE TO RE-ARRANGE MY SOCK DRAWER."

Yes, she actually said it. Katie made it clear that she loathes Moore and fears that as the prominent face of the party, he is dragging down her boy Kerry.

An absolutely stunning TV moment. Catch a replay if you can.

I owe you a set of the world's best chocolate chip cookies for this catch!
Real butter, real chocolate, real vanilla, all brown sugar and hitting the pan on the open oven door half way through the baking process makes them chewy on the inside and crunchie on the outside.

FReepmail me your address! You deserve a treat for being on the front lines every morning!

He's a walking freak show.. That's not the face the dems want out there..

And think about it, he didn't even endorse Kerry, he endorsed Wesley Clark, the bomber of Yugoslavia, of all people. So much for those anti-war credentials, eh Michael?

Couric is at heart a valueless opportunist.

That's why she's the "affable Eva Braun of Morning Television", or, A Political Gardening Tool", take your pick.

HOLY SHI-ITE!
Katie is a pro abort creep - and she also hates patriotic Republican Bush loving Cuban Americans dissing them any chance she gets.

HOWEVER, she does have great legs.

Moore "I just want to be loved is that so wrong? Please Katie, be my friend. You'll be my friend wont you Katie?"

Katie, "No. you suck"

I SWEAR, it really came across EXACTLY like that. A desperate Moore, pleading for Katie to throw him a liferope, and Katie instead reeling it in, sipping a cocktail on the dock as the wounded whale went down for the third time.

Well, I'm not as sure as you that Katie was schlepping for Kerry this morning. Oh, maybe a little, but I think her questions were designed to give Moore every opportunity to bash Cheney, Bush and McCain, who didn't even see the movie. Only problem....Moore was on his very best, "I'm a normal guy" behavior. Moore looked unwashed, but he didn't say anything anywhere near as outrageous as he usually does.

Moore said Letterman had offered him a gig tonight, to go back to the Garden to do a bit for Dave's show. (If Security lets him in, if USATODAY hasn't revoked his press pass, SHAME ON THEM BOTH!!

"I knew he'd be a celebrity, but I was surprised by the extent of both the media coverage and the security reaction," said Owen Ullmann, Moore's USA Today editor. "It created more of a disruption than was intended."

From USATODAY:
"Tuesday, Aug. 31: John Kerry's campaign has just announced it is making a $45 million, 20-state ad buy. That is substantially more money than either President George H.W. Bush or challenger Bill Clinton raised for their entire 1992 presidential campaigns. Bush raised about $30 million and Clinton raised about $25 million, according to this report from the Center for Responsive Politics. Posted at 6:50 p.m. ET. <

Sometimes I feel sorry for Moore, he's obviously so desperately unhappy. Fortunately it doesn't last too long.

Oh now, Michael shouldn't be too sad about it. She didn't exactly come out and say "NOT IF YOU WERE THE LAST MAN ON EARTH." There's still hope. But don't throw away that blow up doll just yet.

Basically, he put her on the spot though. Had she not put him down, she would have left herself open to lots of teasing and questions about when she would go out with him. She is, after all, high profile, and he is, after all, large profile.

This was a window into his miserable soul. I'll bet he was getting flashbacks to his high school days when he was hoping to score a date from someone, anyone.

You nailed it. Moore probably figured that by becoming rich and famous he could escape a childhood in which he was scorned. Now, in his worst nightmare, the girl who is, literally, the cheerleader of the left, is blowing him off more brutally than the girl who shot him down for the junior prom. His worst nightmare come true.

This, I think, is the line that will go down in History.
