Dear Sonjay- can you tell me what they are saying in Punta Gorda. My mom is there and we've been begging her to leave now...her home is tarped and badly damaged from Charley and I feel helpless so many miles away. Any news there in Punta Gorda? I just returned too from helping in her community and the devastation is something I will never forget. We are praying for you. Thank you.

Sorry, I didn't see your post until now.

It's looking more and like Frances will miss us -- and oh, boy, I sure hope it does. There's still so much loose debris lying around everywhere, and so many damaged roofs covered with tarps, and so many people with no home left. All the structures and trees that are still standing are in a weakened condition. This area will be totally devastated if we get hit by a storm like Frances so soon on the heels of Charley.

We're thinking about bugging out either tonight or early in the a.m. -- but to go where? All of Florida is under the gun at this point. (I'm considering Tennessee. Bring my computer, get a motel room, and set up shop there. Stay there until the water and power are back on and things start getting back to normal. I do not want to go through the no-water, no-power, no-supplies, no-nothing routine again.)

I hope your mom gets through everything okay.
