I'm in Orlando. I'm not stocking up yet, though. Even though the most likely path has it coming thru us, all that means is that it's the path that's more likely than any other. It's still not a more likely than not situation, though. The storm is still 4 days away, and that's a long way.
With Charley, they told us that it was going to hit Tampa all the way up to the day before it hit. They missed by almost 200 miles.
"They moved to Florida in February to escape the Jersey winters..."
Tell them to be very careful. I've heard a number of Florida 'native' might begin staking 'newbies' to posts at the shoreline - a sacrifice to the 'hurricane gods'. They are trying to ward off the 'bad ju-ju' these new arrivals might have brought with them. It might just be a rumor though.
My elderly father and his wife (who has alzheimers) live in Orlando. They were w/o electricity for 7.5 days after Charley. Dad is hoping the hurricane will change course and go out to sea. One can hope.
My kind of guy. I moved here (FL) during Hurricane Cleo (really bad storm) in 1964 and I am still in love with Florida. Actually Florida gets fewer hurricanes than the Atlantic coast from NC to MA and the Gulf coast from LA to TX.
