Welcome to Wednesday's Hurricane Frances news-twist !

It looks like a Melbourne Landfall after all, once again (to Section9's worst fears) churning it's way North along the Coast Highway ...

Is this a discussion from late today? I believe that was the morning discussion he sends out unless he updated it. The morning one is useless now with the updated hunter plane info regarding how strong the ridge is.

Any chance that Panama City is in the path of this? Or would it have to cross over to the gulf for them to get hit?

Hi, former neighbor, yeah, Eureka is very close.

I was also one of those people who wanted to experience a strong hurricane, I was always disappointed when they missed Miami.

Andrew cured me of that, for sure, now I stay freaked out until from mid August 'til about October. I remember about 5 days after Andrew, the first thunderhead showed up in the sky. I looked at it and thought "HOLY SH*t!" and almost started running around battening everything down all over again.

Good luck Friday and Saturday.

Maybe we need a Florida Freeper Roll Call thread after Francis is all said and done. Anyways, good luck to you and everyone else in the possible path of this storm.

Good night, everyone, got to get some sleep.
This thread is helping me stay calm, but tomorrow's going to be busy, I imagine.

Panama City, looks safe for now. Frances would need to cross the state, enter the gulf and head almost due north.

Looks like it has finally done a (very) slight move to the North. Thing is so damn big, it won't make much difference, but every little bit helps. Vero and Melbourne in the crosshairs.

Hey there. I'm in Jacksonville being tested for a liver transplant (from ATl). My husband had to go home today (flew home) and my sis flew down from Tulsa. We are at Sawgrass on Ponte Vedra Beach. Should we live tommorrow?

SHOOT I mean should we LEAVE. I bet there is going to be a mandatory evac from the beaches around Jacksonville. We were thinking of leaving tomorrow and running west to Panama City - going up through Georgia might not help. Ideas?

Wherever they send Mike Siedel, that area will be safe. He's human hurricane repellent.

Nah, he and Bill Keneely are often at ground zero before Hero of the Beach Jim Cantore swoops in, boots them about 200 miles up the coast and takes over the dramatic landfall live reports. He is . . . Cantore!

In a land of weather geeks the one with a tan and a few muscles is king. He is . . . . Cantore!

You notice how all the weather babes are constantly pregnant on the Weather Channel? He is . . . Cantore!

;o)

It's Thursday morning, are we continuing on this thread today. Walked the dogs at 6am and my neighbor was putting up his shutters in the dark. I have to go to work for a while, someone ping me with what thread we will be on today.

Stay safe and get prepared.

Isn't that the truth? You only need to ride out one major storm to know it's no amusement park ride. I sat through Hugo just south of Charleston and knew right away I wasn't doing that again.

We went down to Miami during part of the clean up phase and there's really no way to describe to someone piles of debri (pieces of destroyed homes) bulldozed into piles 2 stories tall or more. It was indescribable!

I hope you will receive the blessing of health you need. You really are going to have to keep a close eye, personally I wouldn't but it's going to depend what the storm does today and tonight. You can check the storm surge maps here Florida's Storm Surge Zones, Evacuation Routes, Evacuation Zones

Good idea but there will likely be a power outage for some/many.

Ok..I woke up and see the monster is now on a path to come in at Stuart and head towrds Winter Haven. (Of course, this path probably will change). If she stalls out there and the Bermuda High weakens, she goes north to the Carolinas but right now Florida is the probable strike area.

Locally they are telling us in SC that a northerly turn is a big possibility right now and that puts Charleston in the cross hairs and spares FL.

Years ago, when a large hurricane like Frances was heading straight for Brownsville, TX, the last bulletin from the weather station there before moving inland said something like, "May God have mercy on us!" The hurricane (I think it was called Allen) stalled in the gulf right off-shore and fell apart. Pat Robertson took credit for that, but I think it was the power of the prayers of so many others too. I am praying for all of you in FLA and S C this morning, as are thousands of others.
