Furious Kerry orders shakeup
New York Daily News ^ | 9/01/04 | KENNETH R. BAZINET

Posted on 09/01/2004 1:18:24 AM PDT by kattracks

Sen. John Kerry is angry at the way his campaign has botched the attacks from the Swift boat veterans and has ordered a staff shakeup that will put former Clinton aides in top positions.

"The candidate is furious," a longtime senior Kerry adviser told the Daily News. "He knows the campaign was wrong. He wanted to go after the Swift boat attacks, but his top aides said no."

Campaign sources stressed that no one is losing a job at this point, but instead "proven winners" like former Clinton aides Joe Lockhart and Joel Johnson are being brought in to try to regain momentum for Team Kerry.

Many Democrats have suggested that an overhaul of the Kerry "message machine" is seriously overdue.

Johnson is now running Kerry's war room, and Lockhart will be both a spokesman and strategist.

"Nobody is going over the side, but some people's stock has gone through the floor," a source said.

Democratic insiders have been saying for weeks that communications director Stephanie Cutter and media consultant and strategist Bob Shrum are two top aides who need to be replaced.

But a second Democratic source noted, "The question is, Is it too late? Has too much blood spilled?"

The Swift boat vets have questioned Kerry's heroic service in the Vietnam War, poking a hole in one of the campaign's cornerstone selling points.

One source pointed out that shakeups aren't always signs a campaign is in terminal trouble. Last summer, Kerry replaced his campaign manager and went on to win the nomination.

The Kerry campaign previewed its fall strategy yesterday, saying it will buy $45 million worth of commercial time in 20 states through Election Day.

And this man wants to be our leader and fight the war on terrorism?

Does kerry EVER take responsibility for his actions?

Oh, crap! This is what I've feared all along, Kerry's going to go negative. This is going to be fun to watch. What's he going to do, send Max Clellan to challenge the SwiftVets to duals?

Unfortunately, John Kerry can't fire the biggest idiot in the campaign.

They still don't get it. The problem was not that Kerry waited too long to attack the SVFT. The problem was that he attacked them at all, instead of saying that while he respects their service, their recollections differ. And the other problem is that he's never apologized for his antiwar comments 30+ years ago.

Meehan is gone, he's a moron and contues to say things like Kerry really was in Cambodia. He's going to get replaced by Clinton's press secretary Joe Lockhart. Just my opinion.

That's the truth. Clinton's aides won't be able to do anything. Let's face it, slick Willy has some serious bullsh*t skills that Kerry is completely without.

Proven Winners

"Mr. Lockhart’s political experience spans several U.S. Presidential campaigns. He was the Deputy Press Secretary for the Dukakis/Bentsen 1988 Presidential campaign, traveling with the nominee. In 1984, he was Assistant Press Secretary for the Mondale/Ferraro campaign, acting as primary liaison to the broadcast media, supervising advance staff, scheduling press-related operations, and providing logistical support for the traveling press. During the 1980 Carter/Mondale campaign he was a Regional Press Coordinator, managing communications for senior White House and campaign stall in 11 Northeastern states."

Then Kerry should immediately trade Edwards for Oprah Winfrey as his running mate. Winfrey would much more accurately carry out the majority wishes of the Democrat Party. Winfrey would also guarantee Kerry's election to the Office of President.

Just think--"The Color Purple" being re-enacted on our own soil for at least four years!

Does anyone else thinks it's ironic that Clinton people will be put in charge of the demons 2004 campaign JUST LIKE HILLARY WOULD WANT!

I've been saying for months that Kerry can not win!
He has to defeat Bush, the republicans, the Americans AND THE CLINTONS!

And he's putting them in charge!

Carter/Mondale. Mondale/Ferraro. Dukakis/Bentsen.

Senator Kerry, meet Joe Lockhart, the human torpedo.

Ladies & Gentlemen! As this moron, John Kerry fiddles around with another moron, Joe Lockhart, we should get even more aggressive in working to destroy him and his "traitor" Democrat Party at the November election. All who can afford it should go and buy "Unfit For Command", Tommy Franks book and the Passion of the Christ. We should get every possible vote for GW Bush to the polls on November 2nd. The current Democrat Party and MSM needs to be taken down!!!

Personally, I think the American people have had enough of the "Clinton people".

I don't think seeing them again will work in their favor.

Yeah, I think Kerry ought to fight back and attack those swifties again, really show them this time. I think he ought to dare them to make more ads,,"Bring it on",,I think he ought to dare Arnold to debate him. And to top it off, he ought to attack Laura Bush and the twins. That will do the trick. {Pardon me as my giglling has disrupted my posting skills}
