A call to action. Let the governor know your opinions. He's listening to us, returning our calls, and making freedom-championing speeches on the Republican Convention floor. What's more, legislature and other Dems are criticizing him for shedding his RINO skin. I believe these bills are a setup for the governor. They want to attack him for not living up to their expectations for his promises to be tough on gun control. But is that a legitimate political ploy when California is on fire from job loss, taxes, deficits, and bureaucratic red-tape? Encourage the governor to ignore the ploys of a legislature which plays its gun control violin while Rome burns.

I called the governor's office about this yesterday. An aide told me that Arnold left with Bustamante's "promise" that he wouldn't sign any bills as acting governor while Schwarzenegger was in New York (including drivers' licenses for illegals). I informed the aide that, since the governor's office is only a few steps from the legislative chambers, if Bustamentalcase did sign any of them into law, the responsibility would be on Arnold. He had time to sign a veto before he left. I was met with a long silence followed with repetition of Bustamante's "promise."

Such trust in a classic Slave Party thug makes me feel warm all over.

If we come up all vetoes on these bills, and I think we have a good chance of it, let's discuss the Governor's tactics again later.

Dear Governor,

Please veto any bill which regulates or bans firearms or ammunition. By their very nature they are unconstitutional. [sb1152, ab-50, sb1140
etc] I KNOW you know better!

Thank you and God bless,

Since the Democrats are so concerned with protecting us from ourselves, they need to focus on the threat in their own backyard.

HIV related deaths surpass firearm related deaths, and are increasing at an steady rate. Where is the Democrat call for registration and locks and keys to get this menace off the street? How can anyone pretend to have the safety of citizens at heart and turn a blind eye to this menace?

If public safety is to be part and parcel of the Democrats agenda, they had better tackle the larger issue first. That should be easy. For the most part, it is a menace from within their own ranks.

When gun control issues come to the table, be certain to address the larger issue too, HIV related deaths and the transmission rates. Talk about a "loaded gun", this is it.

Here is the letter I've sent... both by e-mail and snail-mail:
----
Office of the Governor
State Capitol Building
Sacramento, CA 95814

Dear Governor Schwarzeneggger,

First, let me say how impressed I was listening to your speech at the Republican National Convention. As a California Republican, hearing you speak made me feel much better about my decision to vote for you over McClintock in the recall election.

I was most impressed by your recalling of the horrors you felt living in communist occupied Austria. As a former Army officer and a student of Soviet / Communist history and its horrors, I urge you to keep those memories in mind whenever legislation lands on your desk for signing. In particular, whenever gun-control bills come to you for signing. It is a known historical fact that wherever tyranny seeks to take hold, those seeking power first disarm the citizens.

Currently there are several bills that concern me (SB-1152, AB-50, SB-1140 and SB-1733). These bills represent an onerous imposition on gun owners and are nothing but backdoor attempts to ban guns entirely by making ownership an impossible legal hassle.

Some say that we have nothing to fear in the way of government tyranny. But that is not true. Gray Davis was ousted for his own form of tyranny. What happens if one day our legislatures become filled with those like him; those who do not care about the rights of citizens, but only with their own personal power?

The framers of our constitution were intelligent people. It took the 11 years of careful deliberation to hammer out the details. As Barry Goldwater stated in his book The Conscience of A Conservative: “The Constitution is what its authors intended it to be and said it was… If we condone the practice of substituting our own intentions for those of the Constitution's framers, we reject, in effect, the principle of Constitutional Government: we endorse a rule of men, not of laws.”

I worked hard to convince people to vote for you. If you go back on any of the promises made during your campaign, or sign into legislation even one gun-control law, regardless of how trivial it may seem, I will work as hard as I can to remove you from office.

You came to America to enjoy the fruits of freedom. Please don’t make it easier for those that oppose freedom and liberty to impose some future tyranny on us or our children.

Sincerely,
-----
I followed with about two pages of quotes supporting my position.

SB1733, the Cow palace gun show ban, was placed in the inactive file last week, meaning it is not a threat this year. I expect it will be back, though.

The dems are trying to entrap the governor. I think that would backfire, though. Most Californians don't want cities and states blocking legitimate commerce, especially during a recession. I doubt they support these rogue legislators in their rabid attempts to stop a popular gun show.

Aren't the dems actually trying to block freedom of association? Aren't they trying to obstruct the first amendment right of the people to peaceably to assemble? After all, a lot of pro-Republican and pro-Libertarian ideas are exchanged over ammunition, firearm, and related accessory purchases.

Standing at a gun show where Americans are engaged in the lively process of defending their rights with arms is like no other experience. Buying, selling, and mentoring is going on everywhere. The glint of passion to preserve and experience freedom is in everyone's eyes.

Of course our would-be tyrants can't abide by it.

I heard that the Governator has a nice collecton of modern firearms...including...

The 'Oooszie nein mellahmeetah he yoost as 'Deh Tehrmenator'

Of course as an elite member of society....he is entitled to his collection....you however being one of the 'unter menchen'.....are not....

If you have a problem with a violent criminal attacking your family....you should've worked out more and got them in your Kung egg foo yung grip...

of course your best course of action is to dial 911...and let the affirmative action professionals handle it...

imo

I hope he realizes that the 2nd amendment, unlike the 5th and 9th circuit court's recent opinions, is not about the national guard.
