PUNKS, PROTESTS & THE NYPD
The New York Post ^ | Sept 1, 2004 | NY Post editorial

Posted on 08/31/2004 11:52:47 PM PDT by walford

As the GOP wrapped up Day Two of its confab last night, the hate-and- anarchy crowd began to get uppity, with protesters resisting and assualting cops.

Hundreds were arrested.

As well they have should been.

As of early last night, it was unclear where all this would lead. But even by Monday, things had already gotten bloody. A mob of lowlifes pummeled one cop at the end of a protest by the so-called Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign — a protest that, inexplicably, was allowed to take place despite a lack of proper permits.

The officer, who was hospitalized with head wounds, was one of a group of scooter cops who went to the rescue of a female colleague who'd been surrounded by hooligans on West 30th Street.

The mob threw metal barricades at the cops, knocked one off his bike, then proceeded to punch and kick him.

But here's the most telling twist: Video of the incident showed that someone in a neon-green painter's cap was standing next to the assailant — who has not yet been caught — and had a "clear view of the incident," according to cops.

Maybe you've noticed folks wearing caps like that: They're self-proclaimed "legal observers" from the far-left National Lawyers Guild, and they say their job is to protect anti-Republican protesters from alleged police brutality.

When it comes to protecting the cops from the protesters' brutality, though, it seems they couldn't care less...

What lawless scum. The judge did the right thing throwing those who wouldn't give their name back into the tombs and setting a hefty bond for the scumbag who burned something in public.

Such lawlessness should not be tolerated and the lawyer who was a witness to the brutal beating of the officer is a witness to a crime. No privelege applies. She should come forward.

I saw John Gibson's show on Fox this afternoon, and he not only highlighted this fact, he PLEADED for this LAWYER to come forth and tell what she saw. He went on and on, saying that since she was an attorney, and obviously a witness to the event, it was her duty to come forth.

If she was going to come forward, she would have come forward by now.

I don't expect that she will. But I think it's important that she be highlighted and exposed for what she is. Gibby did that.

Such behavior is typical.

Those who were at the support the troops rally last year will remember how the anti-American protesters visited our rally to trash the toilets that FR rented. When the Protest Warriors joined THEIR rally, they were met with brownshirt tactics.

Just as with the Islamofascists, when a group that cannot tolerate dissent is confronted by another point of view, they immediately resort to violence.

I contrast Arnold's marvelous speech to the convention lauding the dreams and promises of America with the barbarous and stupid behavior of those mocha Marxists in the gutters outside and I think to myself "Hot Damn, Naughtius, ain't you glad you're a Republican!"

Neon Green Caps...

The Mass Defense Committee of the NLG-NYC Chapter, which has been providing legal observers and lawyers for activists since 1968, is proud to offer its depth of experience and knowledge to activists organizing events surrounding the Republican National Convention this summer in New York City.

The Committee is coordinating its efforts to provide RNC Mass Defense legal support with the People’s Law Collective, the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys, the Center for Constitutional Rights, and the New York Civil Liberties Union.

Thanks for the link. I took advantage of the opportunity and sent the NLG's Student Vice-Presidents the following [along with a quote from the posted editorial]:

Is NLG's purpose actually to litigate in case police are successfully instigated to respond to violence in kind? Does your group have an ultimate ideological goal that supercedes all others?

As a student, it is most discouraging that a supposedly neutral legal watchdog seems to have an agenda or anarchist sympathy that allows it to stand idly by -- saying and doing nothing --while police officers' blood is spilled by those for whom you ostensibly advocate.

BTW, simply dismissing the source of the story rather than engaging the facts would be disappointing, but not unexpected...

As a member of the bar, she is considered an "officer of the court". That carries with it certain responsibilities. Blatant refusal to accept those responsibilities should strip her of both membership in the bar, and the priveledges of being an "officer of the court"...

Ladies and Gentlemen, the protesters that you see on the streets of New York City are the face of John Kerry and the "traitor" Democrat Party. Destroy John Kerry and the Democrat Party at the ballot box come November 2nd!!!
