Having a political conversation with my 19 year old son tonight. Some of his peers have told him that President Bush required the attendees of some function to sign a promise to vote for him.
Anybody know what this is about? Any help clarifying or debunking would be appreciated. Thanks!
Urban legend. It was a local GOP group that did this at one rally. BC04 had nothing to do with it.
LMAO!!!!!
Heard it here in MN, but it was only rumored. Nothing when I signed up
They had to sign the voting pledge in their own blood, and recite the Lord's Prayer backwards, too.
That is a silly rumor. Promising to vote to get a ticket doesn't mean you will really do it. I don't believe it.
Do those "peers" think just anybody off the street is allowed to get near the President of the United States?
My parents volunteered last week for Bush, and that is not at all what the pledge says.
It does say you are a supporter of Bush, which is done because they want people who really do support Bush instead of disruptors.
Nothing personal...but was it limited to 1 and 2 syllable words?
I say it's baloney because it makes no sense.
"It IS bunk.
I've been to three Bush/Cheney events in the last two months (Laura, VP Cheney and Lynn, and the President himself).
We signed nothing. We stood in line for over an hour, and no one had us sign any affidavit of any sort.
In the question and answer time with the President, our 17 year old daughter asked a question.
It was HER question. No one screened it, suggested it, or stopped it. She could have asked anything at all.
The leftist media in the Columbus area reported the questioning as being 'scripted,' 'canned' and 'screened.'
They lied.
Nothing new for the partisan press, but they heard an earful from us about lying to an unsuspecting public about our daughter's integrity, and the integrity of the President.....
I'm STILL mad.

It's garbage, and I just e-mailed the Toronto Star to tell them so.
I have attended three campaign events in the past month, and there were NO affadavits, nor 'pledge of allegience' required. We signed nothing.
The tickets were for supporters, but we were given a group of tickets that could have gone to anyone.
NONE of the questions from the audience were screened......I KNOW, because one of the questioners was my daughter.
I HATE THE LIES of the LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was unfamiliar with this particular slam at Bush and am just looking for some information to help my son see who is telling the truth in this world.
Dems seeking Cheney tickets have to sign oath
RIO RANCHO, N.M. -- Some Democrats who signed up to hear Vice President Dick Cheney speak here Saturday were refused tickets unless they signed a pledge to endorse President Bush.
The measure was a security step designed to avoid a disruption, which Bush campaign spokesman Dan Foley alleged Democrats were planning. Democratic Party officials denied it.
Several Democrats, at least, encountered the screening measures Thursday after calling from a line that self-identified as ACT, America Coming Together, an activist group that supports Kerry, Foley said. Others attempted to give false names and were denied tickets, he said.
Two men who had sought tickets reported they were required to give name, address, phone number, e-mail address and driver's license number, then were presented the pledge of endorsement when they arrived to pick up the tickets Thursday.
Soon you will be called in by your employer and required to sign a pledge to vote for Bush. If you do not sign not only will you be fired, but all record of your existence will be erased and you will be deported to Mexico. The good news is you'll save a bundle on car insurance, since you will no longer have a car!
A legend in your own mind.
Signed up for a rally on Sunday. Nothing like what you describe. Had to stand in line though. Lots of broken glass here.
sounds like a load to me
