Activists donned pig snouts, climbed trees and targeted Fox News Channel in protests across Manhattan on Tuesday as police arrested 260 people during a day of civil disobedience aimed at the Republican convention.
Officers encircled scores of demonstrators with orange netting during a protest near the former site of the World Trade Center. Detained protesters were loaded onto an off-duty city bus, and police put the count at about 200. The demonstrators insisted they were following police orders.
The protest's 500 demonstrators, a group called the War Resisters League, said they were staging a "death march" from Ground Zero to Madison Square Garden, site of the convention. The arrests happened about a block from Ground Zero.
An Associated Press photographer was detained briefly in the cordon before being released; a photo messenger working with the photographer was arrested and taken into custody.

"Miss Piggy Misbehaving"
They may have been protesting Fox, but they got through to Chrissy Matthews!
"Officers encircled scores of demonstrators with orange netting during a protest..."
After covering them with the net, the net was to be tightened a bit and then whacked (repeatedly) from above, as the good book says.
Fox News has to love all the free publicity.
Who is Hall Igurton?
Their long-range planning skills reveal the general level of practical, functional forethought typically applied to all matters by the antiAmerica Socialist/Communist/Democrats.
What a surprise. Not.
Who's the illiterate who slapped that sign together?
Hey folks, thanks for the great signs. I used one today and got sooo many people mad at me. I was at fox at 4:10 pm and really got under thier skin.
It got to the point that a few officers asked me to leave, seeing that I was all alone and wanted me to be safe. Anyway these fake protestors had no answer to me when I asked where were they on 9.11 all they could say was hes a murderer. I laughed, called them french canadians. I had the cops rolling.
You have to be stoned to do stuff like that. And bored to just stand around and watch.
who watched, I was active
No one will believe they're Michael Moore.
Let's see, I'm walking down the street and encounter a bunch of yahoos wearing pig snouts, flailing about, shouting stupid slogans, carrying illiterate signs. My first thought would surely be "Wow, that group really has it together. Let me head on over into that mess and find out more about their cause".
And these guys are mild compared to the violent criminals who beat up the cop. Did anyone denounce that scene? I'd be livid if anyone who purported to speak for my "side" took any such action. But that's what divides us from them, there seems to be no conscience or common sense over there. It's like the dummies who block traffic and think that will endear them to those who are undecided. (End of rant).
Good job!
Just paste the following into your post, replacing parenthesis with "less than" or "greater than" (shift+"," or shift+"." Had to do that to get it to display):
