This is the thread for Day Two of the RNC Convention.
We wish it was beer foam frothing from the corners of your mouth.
worth repating and loudly.
I was very disappointed in the twins. I wanted them to appear classy like their Mom and respectful of their Father. It was not an appropriate venue for them to try to be funny. The election is serious business and they wasted prime time not furthering our cause whatsoever. They are not "kids". They are old enough to realize what is at stake in this election.
I missed about 10 seconds of Steele's speech (my cats got into a fight) and it was right when he said something really powerful because everybody yelled and jumped up and clapped. Can you remember what that was? He was on a roll about Kerry.
No way I'm going to get caught up with this massive and fast moving thread. I've read a number of posts criticizint the Bush twins. Well, they may be adults, but 21 isn't exactly seasoned, and they're not accustomed to public speaking. OK, they weren't perfect, and they giggled. Oh well. I don't really care. It was nice to have them there to introduce their father, the President of the United States.
I really don't care, either, what Mara Liasson, Fred Barnes, Morton Kondrake, and especially Billy Kristol (what a crab!) had to say. And, I really liked Arnold's speech. I'm one who supported McClintock, but I will not trash Arnold.
I agree. I'm not hip enough to have understood some of the references, but I do have college age grandchildren who do. My grandson called me from college the next day and excitedly related seeing the twins on MTV. He's hip! LOL
Well, I wasn't going to do it, but I'll jump in on the subject of the twins.
Here's what I saw:
It felt just like when our big family got together at the beach this summer, cousins and all. Each night the kids got silly and ended up entertaining us with some kind of little "show" or dancing or tumbing or something. Anyone watching from the outside wouldn't have been impressed. But we grinned and laughed and had a helluva time.
That's how I felt watching Jenna and Barbara. It felt personal, like family. And I grinned and laughed and thought they were great.
He asked the panel who gave the best speech so far.
Rudy got the nod from 2. JC Watts said Arnold.
Chris asked if any of the Dems conv speeches matched up w the Repubs, Newsweak's Meacham said Edwards speech was good and about 12 of us remember it!
LOL
I do think Kate Edwards came off better.
I'd rather hang out with the Bush twis, but I'd rather have Kate Edwards as my daughter.
I want to come to your place! My cat never gets into a fight - she just lies there like a big furry lump and snores.
He asked all the commentators to name the best speech so far of the 2 nights. Then he asked if out of all the Dem convention speeches even one was as good as all of the Republican speeches so far. General consensus was that there was not one Dem speech that could touch any of the Repub speeches.
My son is also in Iraq and is 23. Those young ladies represent his generation, we may not agree with their comments or taste but that is reality. I teach high school and the best students in the magnet school that I teach in would relate to the twins. Times are a changing. Remember when our parents didn't approve of our music or culture.
You and the other twin critics are the ones who hold the "perfect" standard. Not the other way around.
LOL
At one point he started in on Kerry's flip flopping... that seemed to get people going. I was house cleaning though, didn't catch it all.
What's to be "proud" of?
Both college graduates for one thing.
As far as I know, no serious trouble.
They love their parents and come from a warm loving family.
Honest enough to say they have no real political interest, but are campaigning because they love their father.
No boob show at the Cannes film festival.
Many parent's should be so lucky.
McClintock is still massaging that 48-13 number.
He's even brought out the Inca-numbered slide rules. Every equation in every language and number system says he is a loser and his anti-Arnold bomb throwing followers on FR are unlikable a-holes.
When they sang the Battle Hymn, this "tough" woman cried and sang along with them. So glad that they came out and took a stance on which side of God they stand. In God We Trust.
