I agree with you about the twins, but I agree with Barnes about political families. I'm sick of all this goo-goo touchy-feely crap.

Exactly. If she had been first, the networks would have talked about something ELSE until he came on. I agree with you. I am sure that was the consideration.
To: VegasBaby
Agree. They are not mature girls, but happy and lively and the speech was definitely aimed at other young college kids.

Its poking fun at the MTV youth culture. I thought the Twins did a bang on job with the humor. Older people may not catch all the pop references but those in the know do get it.

"A couple of positive callers from Canada. "
Yeah, I was surprised to hear them call in. It's nice to know that there are some individuals with brains up there. My mother was born in Canada, came to this country as a little girl, but never became a citizen.

"The problem is that most people wouldn't have stuck around to hear Arnold. "
Agreed... that was the possible downfall of a reversal of order... This was OK, but too bad that dynamic you spoke of is accurate.

I agree. The panel that Matthews has on is superior to that crowd over at "wanting-to-be-mainstream-too." Most people at Free Republic missed the consensus of the MSNBC panel about the appeal to the "security moms" and listened to the negative garbage from Fred, Bill, and Morton (not so much Mara).

I am just stunned by Barnes and the rest of those saying the twins weren't helpfulHe needs to get out of the Beltway once in awhile. And maybe the angry protestors outside the Fox studios have shaken him up.
I asked my young teenage son what he thought of the twins part of the program and he thought it was alright. (Not that he's ever watched Sex in the City - he's only 14, so can't vote yet, darnit.)

"Is Kerry actually CAMPAIGNING tonight?! Isn't that a little unprecedented?!"
Yeah, Kerry really looks like he needs a vacation. It's been, what, three, four weeks?

I'm guessing one of those stealth Dem volunteers. The crawler said it was at the end of Arnold's speech. She started spewing to Cheney how much did you make from the war, blah blah blah. Standard moron Dem talking points. Who picked these volunteers? It really irritates me that the convention had 15,000 volunteers, most of whom are dedicated Republicans who would love to be in the Garden, yet only about 10% of those volunteers even got to be in MSG in the first place. And two of those turned out to be left-wing nutcases. I'm really angry about this.

Chris Wallace was a refreshing voice who pretty much said what I thought of the girls performance. Good Lord---what was anybody expecting anyway. They looked great and showed a sense of humor and they love their parents. Laura is beautiful, calm and collected and such an asset to her husband. From the looks on the faces of the delegates, the family presentation was welcomed and probably a relief from all the rhetoric which after awhile can become numbing. Everybody tonite did their job in a happy, upbeat way. What a contrast with the 'other' convention which was quite joyless.

What YOU don't realize... What a hateful remark. There isn't anyone on this board that doesn't understand that.
Those girls were cute and sweet and I'll bet you that the vast majority of those young men were thrilled to see such sweet young women.
How old are YOUR kids?

"It took my breath away" Mine too, and think about what the pubbies did tonight. They united generations of people. From the Nixon reference, to the twins hamster joke (which I loved, BTW), this is a party that is stronger than I've ever seen.
