I feel for you. I vacationed at the Cape this summer, and couldn't help but notice how overrun it was with patricians of the Kerry kind. The whole attitude everywhere was one of snobbery and elitism. The restaurants were overpriced and overrated.

Some pretty scenery and I love the cape cod baseball league, but a real air of pretentiousness throughout the island. I'll take the SC coast or the Golden Isles of GA over it anytime.

After way too many years in New England avoiding the 'island scene' - we finally spent a week on Martha's Vinyard with friends from Europe who had heard so much about how great it was - big mistake. Boring, hard to get around, rude staff, overpriced....I could go on. It was the longest week we EVER spent on vacation - all of us were REALLY happy to leave the island. We can laugh about it now but it wasn't easy at the time.
