Stop will be second in Lake County in the last five weeks
President Bush will roll into Lake County at noon Saturday for a campaign stop termed Victory 2004 Rally. Lake County is slated for one of Bush's first appearances after the Republican National Convention in New York City, which concludes Thursday night. Prior to the Lake County stop, Bush is scheduled to appear in Cleveland at 9 a.m., according to the Bush-Cheney campaign. Then the president will travel to Erie, Pa., for a planned 3:20 p.m. appearance. Exact locations for the three appearances have not been released.
A Bush-Cheney spokesman said because of security precautions, event details are not released to the public until a short time prior to the appearance. As of Monday, Bush has campaigned 22 times in Ohio, GOP officials said.
It will mark his second appearance in Lake County this year.
Bush stopped July 30 for a private fund-raiser at the Kirtland Hills home of Edward F. Crawford, chairman and chief executive officer of Park-Ohio Industries Inc. in Euclid.
First lady Laura Bush was in Mayfield Heights June 18 for a rally at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven. The Saturday rally will be part of the Bush-Cheney '04 Bus Tour.
Area law enforcement officials met Friday in Cleveland and Monday in Jefferson Village in Ashtabula County to discuss what role they will play.
Ohio and Pennsylvania are considered to be up for grabs for the presidential election.
"Everybody knows how crucial Lake County is to Ohio and how crucial Ohio will be," said Mentor resident Curt Lau, Lake County's Bush-Cheney chairman. "I'm really glad he's coming; there is already a lot of buzz." A stop in Lake County will give voters a chance to personally hear the president's ideas, said Dale Fellows, Lake County Republican chairman.
"What it means for the voters is they'll have the opportunity to see the president up close and personal and to see what a genuine individual he is and to hear his message directly from him," Fellows said. "He'll also talk about what he plans to do in his second term." Fellows said Bush should be well-received in Lake County. "The people in this county realize his tax cuts are helping," Fellows said.
"We have the strongest economy in 20 years. Lake County is well-positioned to benefit from the strong economy that is taking off."
Willoughby Mayor David Anderson, 2000 Bush-Cheney Lake County chairman, said the rally shows how critical an area Lake County will be.
"The president especially understands that Northeast Ohio is a battleground due to the loss of manufacturing jobs," Anderson said.
"He'll be coming in right off the heels of the convention. It certainly shows how important he feels this area is."
Tickets are available for the Lake County rally by calling the Lake County Republican Party at (440) 352-0704.

I don't know for sure I was told to be there (where ever that may be) by 9 as well.
I was told that the gates will be open at 9 for attendees, but workers are going to asked to be there by seven. And "there" hasn't been defined yet.

Seven? Maybe I'll just stay up all night, that is very early for me on a weekend.
I was able to get 5 tickets, but I believe the limit for request was much higher than that.
The location has been announced, and I will find out the time of the event tomorrow.
Lake Farm has been announced as the place, they want us there by 9 am, 7 if you are working.
