Oh I don't know...maybe a smart move...America loves visuals...the Purple Heart band-aids is a great visual. It degrades Kerry having his Purple Hearts for such minor wounds. Just one more 'stick it to ya' for Kerry. Death by a thousand cuts! (Couldn't resist the pun :))Glad to see the Repubs taking the gloves off. And, yep...funny as hell to watch the DUmmies go apoplectic.

I think this is too serious to joke about. A lot of men died for the purple hearts, and not just in Vietnam.

If Kerry falsified batle accounts to get his it's not funny. It's fraud and its deadly serious and it demeans the the service of everyone who has ever put on the uniform.

So far the SBV have done a good job (I think personally) of keeping this above the fray and have conveyed the serious nature of the charges they're making very well. This does not help.

I'm digging around in my work desk with my dozens of permanent markers frantically looking for a purple one. So far no luck. Got the band-aids though. Gonna make some of my own. A quick trip to the local stationary store today. Wait a minute...ummmm...red and blue make purple...ummmmm.

I agree 100%. This is well-intentioned, to be sure, but it gives the issue an air of frivolity that is entirely inappropriate. I joke about my own PH (I was sitting on my ass at the time, and WHAP!) but (A.) it is mine to joke about and (B.) its authenticity is not in doubt (it took a lot more than a band-aid to treat it).

This is no disrespect for the brave men and women who have rightfully earned the Purple Heart. It does however give a visual of how Kerry is undeserving of the Purple Heart by using his superficial wounds as warranted. It gives the message the Purple Heart is not to be trivialized and used as a quick escape from the Vietnam theatre. Just MHO

You know how hard it is to keep quiet in a solemn service like church or a funeral when something so funny happens?

That feeling happened to me while watching the convention tonight. That wonderful NY policeman was singing Amazing Grace, so beautifully, and the crawl information at the bottom said something to the effect that Terry McAwful thought it was simply UNCONSCIENable that people were wearing bandaids with purple hearts on them.
