I live with two bush haters,my in-laws,old,angry ,hateful, bitter shriveled up raisins who have spewed irrational ,vitriolic, bizarre, nasty statements at my hubby and I for the past few years but have really been piling it on something terrible the past few weeks.
I threw such a grand Mal fit at them over Iraq a couple of months ago that they wont talk to me but what is necessary, now my husband has became the target of the ugliness.
i said he needed to have as a big hissy fit right back at them so they would shut up like I did since debating the issue will not work with the insane.
whats awful is this: they used to be normal regular people so iam convinced that the space ship that hides out behind the moon according to one of George norey's guests/Sarcasm, took my in-laws and replaced them with these POD people.
I now have a feeling what it was like for families right before the civil war broke out. and its sad and frightening.
And no we cant move away from them they moved in with us a week before 9/11 due to health problems and this has been life with the pod people ever since then.

Tell your elderly in-laws to pipe down and start cheering for Bush, or you'll drop both of them off at a state-funded convalescent home.

If it were my house, they'd already be sitting on the curb.

I'd say if they are living with you, you could tell them to keep their vitriol to themselves. Inside your home, you don't have to allow completely free speech. You might also tell them Democrats falsely believe Republicans want to throw sick, old people into the streets. Tell them, "It's not true but it's sounding better all the time."

The best thing to do is just smile and ignore them, I had my father living with me for some months until his death in 1995 and I remember his saying one day that the biggest mistake the American people ever made was electing Ronald Reagan and then they turned around and elected him again. I knew if I pointed out to him that I felt exactly the same way about Bill Clinton he would have gone into a sulk with me so I just pretended not to hear him. I had driven him nuts all my life by supporting conservatism so I figured I might as well let that go by. My father was very smart about some things but when it came to the government he was always childlike and thought whatever the Feds wanted to do was just wonderful.

And what law requires you to keep them in your house? Just wondering.

Your story made me laugh out loud!
Loved the "grand mal fit" part.
It amazed me how folks like that CANNOT hold an intelligent discussion over the issues. They think they can WIN the debate by shouting and insulting you. They get all worked up and the spittle flies.
I had the extreme displeasure of having a conversation like that a few years back. The guy was literally insane. He just went NUTS, simply because I didn't agree with him on an issue.

I've wondered if this was what it felt like pre-Civil War, since the day Bush legally beat them. GWB's been damned if he did and damned if he didn't, every day, every action, ever since. Nothing he could do, even sending us all checks, would buy their forgiveness for beating them and atone for their loss of power.

The media has incited the TV-glued, apathetic MTV/Rather crowd into this frothing. It's now brother against brother, friend against friend, and neighbor against neighbor. It won't get any better when GWB beats their phony ABB candidate, either. They will try for an impeachment.

Do you think we will get government-issued uniforms? I hope our side gets navy blue...navy is more slimming.

My mother lived in a senior apartment in Massachusetts.
The Democrats would visit at election time and bring all manner of food, music and attention along with a dose of hatred for the GOP and promises to all about more freebees if you vote Democrat. The election cycle would bring politicians that ignored the people almost all the time but they would appear like clockwork when election season came around. I found literature on my mothers doorknob that was
so outrageous and devious I saved it. It was from a Congressman McGovern in Worcester Massachusetts and it was a frontal assault on Republicans intended to "Scare out the Vote" This lying sack of Democrat scum actually hinted at the Republicans taking away the only check some of these people lived on month to month. That is how Democrats get the vote. They lie and scare the seniors.

Suze, you gotta do something about this or your marriage will be toast. Filial piety should not extend to sacrificing one's whole life. How many Dear Abby's began... "My parents/in-laws made us swear never to put them in a home, so now... etc. etc.

You can always warn them to watch their attitude since you'll probably be their only hope of them being able to vote. If not for your good graces, maybe they couldn't get their hands on a ballot???

Paybacks are a *itch. Heheh.

Start renting movies for them, like "Logan's Run" and "Soylent Green."

Yes, I've thought that also.

I live with Extreme Leftists. We have an unspoken agreement Not to discuss Anything Political which works out fine, as I can always come to FR for shared values.

If at all possible, work it out so that there is tranqulity in your home.

Otherwise you may end up paying a terrible price.

"..they moved in with us.."

A real bummer there!

I have had to call a truce with my daughter-in-law for the sake of my wife, and son, and the grandsons. I have agreed not to start anything, and she has agreed not to "bait" me. But she still does occasionally.

Being very subtle, begin leaving rest home brochures laying around the house. Perhaps this will cause them to rethink their treatment of you all.

You have my sympathies. I had to live with my in-laws for 12 years. It was a nightmare for all of us, including them!
