Rev. Sharpton fires up Democratic voters at Miami church

They danced, clapped, shouted and sang, and that was before the Rev. Al Sharpton even opened his mouth.

By the time the former presidential candidate finished his sermon to more than a thousand people gathered in a Miami church Sunday, blending politics and religion into a call to action to South Florida's black community, congregation members churned with energy.

When he was done, Sharpton introduced the chairman of the Democratic National Committee. McAuliffe apologized to the congregation for the 2000 election and for not being in Florida to stop voting problems.

The Rev. Al Sharpton on Sunday called on members of the New Birth Baptist Church in Miami to get out and vote in upcoming local and national elections.

I'll never forget once after a recent race riot down here in Miami, Ole Al shows up and starts talkin smack on the street... some little ole black lady comes up and tells him to get lost, LOL! That was many years ago. Reminded me of that older black woman who would call Rush Limbaugh, and called those guys "Race hustlin poverty pimps" or something to that effect...

Let's all bear in mind that when "reverends" say anything positive towards the GOP from the pulpit, the ACLU and their ilk attack, screaming bloody murder about the "seperation of church and state".

Pinging "Rev." Barry Lynn. Why isn't he screaming from the rooftops about this? Isn't he the one who buried Roy Moore over the 10 Commandments display? Surely preaching politics from the pulpit is as egregious a violation of the "separation clause" (whatever that is).

I guess the outrage is only applicable if conservatives or conservative politics is involved. Liberals, as usual, get a pass (because their heart is in the right place, i.e., we agree with them). (/sarcasm)

Lets keep the issue clear here:

It's not a violation of the Constitution to preach about candidates in the pulpit.

It IS a violation of federal tax law to do so if you claim federal tax exempt status. (And perhaps campaign finance laws, too).

Sandra Hamilton, a Miami resident and New Birth Baptist member, complained that politics in the United States has gotten as dirty as in her native Jamaica.

Like preaching hateful messages in a church? That's dirty.
