There was a beautiful theological logic underlying the March 25 (essentially Vernal Equinox) New Year; Creation, the creation of the New Adam, and Christ's sacrifice for Adam's sin all converging on the same day, and all at the beginning of the annual cycle of life in the Northern Hemisphere.

Maybe the "April fools" who clung to the Julian calendar were wiser after all!
