Many pollsters and pundits settled in a few weeks ago on this mantra, “This is John Kerry’s race to lose.” That was a bit premature and quite frankly, wrong. Internally, the Democratic leadership must be beside themselves.
I will now post my thoughts on how I think the next week will go (GOP convention) but I will start with a review of August - the first full month after the DNC convention...
First, let's sum the month of August up. This month has been a total disaster for the Kerry campaign. A train wreck.
Kerry was supposed to be riding high this month. He had his convention in July and August was supposed to be his month to bask in the sunshine of a double-digit lead.
But that double-digit lead never materialized. No! Instead, rather than getting a convention bounce, Kerry actually STALLED after the convention.
On top of that, after months and months of relentless attacks on President Bush by the Kerry campaign and their moneyed Section 527 co-conspirators, John Kerry finally found himself on the receiving end for a change. And this allowed his true character - or lack thereof - to be revealed. If John Kerry cannot handle a negative campaign ad and cannot combat such an ad with truth, then he is clearly not fit to be president.
This is a total unmitigated disaster that cannot be spun away. The Kerry campaign is in SERIOUS trouble.
The Republican convention doesn't even start until this week and ALREADY Bush is building a lead.
Mind you, Kerry was supposed to have a DOUBLE-DIGIT lead at this point. But he doesn't.
Even if Bush gets only a small bounce at this convention, it will provide him with a comfortable lead over Kerry. Even a five or six point lead by Bush will be almost impossible for Kerry to surmount. After all, what opportunity will Kerry have after the Republican convention to gain ground?
The debates?
Forget about it. Kerry can study the issues and practice debating all he wants. But Bush is LIVING the issues every day. The debates are likely to favor Bush on that alone. But throw in the fact that debates tend to reveal a candidate for who he is. And you can bet that even at his best, Kerry will come across as arrogant and stiff as a board. Like Mike Dukakis - another insufferable and unlikeable Massachusetts pol. But unlike Dukakis, Kerry has a much thinner skin. One gets the impression that Kerry's "Howard-Dean" moment could happen at any time. Most likely during the debates, when Kerry can't hide behind his carefully staged and scripted out interviews and personal campaign appearances.
I cannot say this enough: The Kerry campaign was COUNTING on a double-digit lead after the Democratic convention in July. They never got it. Instead, they actually LOST ground.
The Kerry campaign had their shot. And they blew it. It is all Bush from here on out.
Now picture this scene next week...
New York City...The Big Apple.
Barely two weeks away from the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Picture President George W. Bush confidently taking the stage at Madison Square Garden to accept the nomination of the Republican Party just a couple miles from the scene of the attacks. Do the terrorists scare President Bush? No! And why should they? After all, this president has had these scumbags on the run for nearly three years now. They don't have time to plan new attacks on New York City because what's left of them are too busy trying to survive in the caves and ditches of Pakistan and Timbuktu.
What's more, President Bush isn't holding his convention in the friendly confines of Houston, Texas. No! SO where does Bush have it? Only in probably the most hopelessly liberal part of the country. We are talking about an area that elected carpetbagging tramp HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON as their senator! That Marxist piece of slime. THIS is where President George W. Bush has decided to hold his convention.
John Kerry on the other hand...Well, what can you say? Boston, Massachusetts? You've got to be kidding! How gutsy is that? We're talking about a region that habitually and routinely elects the likes of Ted Kennedy and Barney Frank year after year? Kerry was taking no risks there. It would be like President Bush holding his convention in Provo, Utah or Austin, Texas.
But I digress. Just imagine the President of the United States next week holding his convention in New York City, just walking distance from the epicenter of 9/11 and nearly on the anniversary of the infamous event to boot. Now that's theatre. You think people aren't going to tune into that? Even the Bush-haters will tune in, if only to see if the place blows up. But the only thing that's going to blow up next week will be any chance that John Kerry ever had to be the President of the United States.

But perhaps most telling of his leadership qualities is his use of his Purple Hearts to abandon his band of brothers, his command, on a technicality. Kerry may be the only person in history who took advantage of a Navy regulation that allowed him to leave his command after 4 months for 3 purple hearts none of which ever caused him to miss a day of duty. In my experience men fought to stay with their band of brothers, especially commanders. All the commanders I know would get out of a hospital bed to be with their men. Some one had to take his place; someone probably less experienced who would have to learn the ropes. That put his command more at risk than if he stayed. It is not hard to understand why those who stayed in combat for the full year are upset with Kerry.
And veterans today would be upset with Kerry's support of Flag Burning his non-support of weapons systems and his 12 votes against military pay raises. But his use of veterans and misuse of his medals should bring into serious question his loyalty, integrity and character all of which equal leadership. He is not fit for command.
But I do have to admit, the recent ones, especially the one from the LA-LA Times this past week, was a surprise.
All I can say, whatever happens, it's going to get pretty ugly in the coming months, whether or not Bush wins or loses.

I am a crack dealer in Mt. Washington, KY who has recently been diagnosed as a carrier of HIV virus.
My parents live in Morehead and one of my sisters, who lives in West Liberty, is married to a transvestite.
My father and mother have recently been arrested for growing and selling marijuana. They are financially dependent on my other two sisters, who are prostitutes in Covington.
I have two brothers, one is currently serving a non-parole life sentence at Eddyville for the murder of a teenage boy in 1994. My other brother is currently in jail awaiting charges of sexual misconduct with his three children.
I have recently become engaged to marry a former prostitute who lives in Campton. She is a part time "working girl".
All things considered, my problem is this. I love my fiancée and look forward to bringing her into the family. I certainly want to be totally open and honest with her.
Should I tell her about my cousin who is a Kerry supporter?

But it's important that people understand that Kerry's
current buzz problems:
- total unreliability as a boat commander
- false reports
- fraudulent medals
- slander of the military
- illegal and treasonous consorting with the enemy
... are less significant than:
- what his later legislative record predicts about him
... which is less significant than:
- the fact that he might as well be the Manchurian
Candidate. He will complete the Chinese sell-out
that Clinton started, and lose the war on terror.

I've only heard from a local radio personality (can't verify his source, perhaps from the SB Crew) that Kerry had a camera with him during his "entire" tour. He took photos to document some of these so called "atrocities" he accused his fellow servicemen over.
Have you run across any information on that?
If your ex-hooker fiance really loves you, having a cousin that is a Kerry supporter shouldn't make a difference. But just to be on the safe side, I would keep this "on a need to know basis" until after the marriage. And I'm sure you will agree that she really doesn't need to know right now.

What is your take on the protesters? It looks like it could be another 1968 Chicago melee. I think that the more aggressive and milatant the protesters get the worse for Kerry.
I also hear that Michael Moore will be at the convention representing USA Today as a journalist. I hope the convention delegates kill him with kinkdness.

It was Kerry's to lose. He had the news media on his side (including even Fox News lately), an opponent who is domestically a "political pacifist," an economy still seen as limping along (even though we know better), and several historical advantages.
But we also knew who Kerry was, and that he would be very adept at losing: He's a radical leftist with a terrible history.
But yes, anything that gets out of control, however briefly, will be more a reflection on those who support Kerry and will turn off most of America. Decent people aren't going to want to be associated with this kind of element. The more we can tie Michael Moore and his ilk to Kerry, the more of a political bounce Bush will get out of this.

Kerry RE-enacted his Vietnam "heroic" actions w/a camcorder. I would like to know who held the camera while he pranced around in ARMY clothing.
And the protestors will provide much campaign footage for Bush or the pro-Bush 527s.
