Any Geeks care to share comments on the high latency tonight? I've not seen a threat matrix reporting any abnormal virus activity... but this appears to be DOS on Seattle (microsoft).
Or.... did MS release SP2 tonight and it's causing crazy latency issues with so many trying to download?
My SP2 downloaded several days ago. Initially wreaked havoc, but things have settled down.
Yeah, w... ahem, I mean "they" started pushing SP2 out through WindowsUpdate Wednesday. A lot of business in particular have their desktops set to automatically update each weekend (Sunday at 3am is popular), so this doesn't surprise me.
Yep, I noticed it, too. There seems to be intermittent latency on the internet which prevents me from connecting to sites.
Yea, this is freaky. I'm getting intermittent connectivity to websites from Denver.
Everything's fine here in the MidWest! MS suckers!
Bad time to do that.. that also prime time most telco and data backbone provides have there service window for there networks... 1 am to 5 am sunday moring local time zone...(7 years working in a network control center and worked many sat./night sun moring grave shifts doing just that)
Correct. I supported a technical web/ftp intranet site for a telcom company. My guys HAD to have the documentation/software during the service window, and the engineers had to have the site up during the week for updates. I didn't get a maintenance window. I've had servers up for over 3 years at a time before giving up and bringing them down on a Tuesday morning CST. Let 'em scream. The internal guys don't have downtime charges like Wall Street does.

My IPS - Qwest - migrated to new DNS addresses. Didn't tell anyone. Nice.
about right for the AlQaueda Center of the USA ////
Microsoft DOS?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Internet is still screwed up. I'm wondering if someone is doing some DOS nonsense to 'protest' the convention? Anyone? It looks like the problems are centered on the west coast (NW mainly). Anyway, I could barely post this message.
