Chirac to Meet Iraqi President for Talks

The Associated Press

PARIS Aug. 28, 2004 — French President Jacques Chirac said that Iraq's interim president will travel to Paris early next month for talks on how France can best contribute to Iraq's reconstruction. Chirac told his nation's diplomats on Friday that France is prepared to make a serious commitment to help Iraq achieve stability and democratically elect its next leaders.

"France is open to a dialogue with Iraqi authorities on all subjects the training of security forces, Iraqi debt all subjects that concern the rebuilding and the well-being of the Iraqi people," Chirac said.

"It is in this spirit that I am receiving the Iraqi president at the beginning of the month of September," he added.

Iraq has said its overall foreign debt of $122 billion is hindering postwar reconstruction, and they want most of it to be forgiven, if not all.

About $42 billion is owed to members of the Paris Club of creditor countries, including France, which has so far said that it is prepared to offer only limited debt relief.

Chirac also said that despite occasional flaring tensions and differences the United States and France have always been friends and allies.

"France is convinced that, tomorrow like today, a dynamic and balanced trans-Atlantic partnership is indispensable for responding to our common challenges," Chirac said.

Votre bon ami,

Jacques

P.S. Je promets de mettre dans un bon mot quand je visite l'Irak la semaine prochaine.

Chiraq is just upset that suicide bombers prefer to use Boeing rather than Airbus.

Pfftt. I know this guy is lying because I saw his lips move. :-/

The chesse eating surrender monkeys want a piece of the reconstruction work without helping to attain it. I say screw 'em. Chirac is only out to steal whatever he can from everybody else.

Hell, he won't even consider cancelling a debt the Iraqi people didn't run up but an evil, mass murdering dictator did. That ought to tell the world just about how twisted France has become.

As for his wine induced fantasy that France and the US are allies well he better check that crap at the door. He is letting his battleship mouth write checks his rowboat ass can't cash.

I just wait for the day when Frog-land yells for help and everyone turns their back on them. You got your help twice in WWI & II when you caved. No more. Let's see how long you croissant sniffing Liberals last in your sensitive war on terror.
