So why doesn't Kerry just sign the 180 and release all his records?

The only reason is that Kerry knows that his records would prove him a liar beyond any shadow of doubt.

I don't think the democrats need a mechanism. All it will take is for FUBAR to declare he is withdrawing from the race because of medical conditions; he is "recovering" from prostate cancer.

Well here's the thing about this. Parties do not have a "right" to be on the ballot, nor are they obligated to field a candidate. Just look at the Communist Party, for example, who is not running a candidate this election because they have said that Kerry meets their criteria close enough.

Parties also are not required to select their nominee in any particular fashion, so it's not as though the simple pesky detail of Kerry winning almost every state in the Democrat primary would stand in the way of replacing him at the top of the ticket. The catch here is that there is a deadline for getting on the ballots, and certain technical requirements. If Kerry were to step down from the nomination, unless he does it very soon (Bush is cutting the nomination deadline extremely close himself), the Democrats would not be able to replace him on many ballots. Sure, states like New Jersey and Massachusetts would find a way to get a new Dem on the ballot, but it would be impossible in most states, and a great many of them would block any effort.

I also live in Massachusetts, and I am completely confounded by the mindset here in this state.

I saw a post earlier today by Diogenesis I think it was who entertained the notion that voter fraud is the real issue in elections and that it is prevalent here in the Bay State. The fiasco in Florida in 2000 was simply an effort at a new form of election abuse.

Personally, I know very few people who label themselves as liberals. Still the voting results always seem to be the same in this Republic. The Kennedy mystique is a factor of course, but the election day results always confound me year after year based on my conversations with persons in all areas of life.

Awesome stuff, Tonk!! Thank you! I'm spreading what you're dishing and I know it's made a dent. Poor Mass. Dems are sadder than most.

That's a very good point and one that I had not thought of before. So I guess the bottom line is they'll have to fish or cut bait sooner rather than later.

A very witty and concise description of the demagogues in Demoratland!

They are coming undone. It is hilarious to watch the meltdown.

Particularly Chris Matthews. Geez! I think the guy is gonna stroke out right on camera real soon.

agree...excellent post. I use the mute button a lot these days, especially everytime Lurch makes it on the telly!!

I notice, when I mute Senator sKerry giving a speech, his body language..he keeps rubbing his finger under his nose..Watch him and see that I'm right.

What could this mean?

Don't forget the Lousenberg defense.

Which is..?
I already stated that the Dems could probably illegally replace Kerry in some states such as New Jersey but those states would be few and far between. In the end, The Dems would have their candidate on the ballot in fewer states than Nader. Remember, each state has its own ballot, qualifications, and deadline. this means that the Dems could not simply replace Kerry in one corrupt swoop like they did Lautenberg. They would have to do it state by state. I just dare them to try and see how far they get.

As another FReeper in a thread higher up said, hanoi john is screaming for GW to save him from the Swifties.

Shouldn't that read:
... purple medal Navy superstar hero hanoi john is screaming for cowardly Guard draft dodger GW to save him from the nasty evil Swifties.

The SwiftVets were never going to be anything other than an attention getter. That was part and parcel of making sure sKerry had been knocked of the ridiculous "hero" pedestal he had constructed, but that was going to do nothing more than level the playing field and force people who are able to think to say to themselves, "is this guy telling the truth, or not?"

Now that people have that doubt firmly entrenched, and it is clearly opposite what sKerry himself has told them, the real information that damns him will be listened to. Most people are just starting to realize that this is the guy who testified to congress as an antiwar vet, and there are many, many people who are angry about that traitorous deception. Wait until they find out he was lying big time there... and NOW they're going to be listening in a way they would not have had the SwiftVets not come forward first.

You're right, too. The OldMedia and the Fraudcasters are also in a battle to the death this election with the New Media. They know it, and that is why they have pulled out all the stops up to this time attempting to squash their opposition.

With sKerry as the Demodog candidate, who has already shown himself to be a completely unaccomplished campaigner, though, they are already starting to realize their battle is lost, and that this will sound the death knell for them all.
