Kerry is frozen in a time warp when it comes to his service in Vietnam. His preoccupation with his medals borders on being an obsession. If you check Kerry's released military records, you will notice that Kerry amended his DD214 with a DD215. Among other things, Kerry burnishes his Vietnam Service medal by adding four bronze service stars to reflect various campaigns. This was done in March 2001!!! Why anyone would go through that effort to make some meaningless changes is beyond me. Hundreds of thousands of veterans, including myself, could do it, but beyond self-gratification and ego, what is the point?

And, as has been stated earlier, Kerry was only eligible for two of those four Bronze service stars during his tour of duty.

He clearly was defrauding the system to embellish his service career to impress voters. The fact that he thought he could get away with all of this fraudulent "revision" says everything you need to know about both his character and his intelligence. He's just a liar who is too stupid to think he would ever get caught.

This document lists a "corrected" separation date of 03/01/70. Given his "post separation" activities what was the original separation date?

The bronze stars in this case are devices meaning;

The BRONZE SERVICE STAR, smaller in size than the Gold Star, is worn to indicate participation in campaigns or operations, multiple qualification, or an additional award of the same medal or ribbon.

Yes, but look at WHEN Kerry DEMANDED the four service stars be added!

March 12 2001!

So, had he worn campaign star BEFORE this date? And decided in 2001 to "straighten the record" and add them?

Now, consider WHEN he was actually in Vietnam:

1 April 69 - 5 May 69 (Offshore on USS Gridley, doing plane gueard and SAR duties.) One day in DaNang harbor driving a boat. Does Kerry actually consider THIS adequate to earn a "Tet offensive" campaign star?

The Gridley was away from Long Beach for longer than this, but these five weeks are the only time that Kerry was doing anything even "near" Vietnam.

Mid Nov 68 - 01 Dec 69 (training, but in-country)
01 Dec 68 - 17 Mar 70 (actual duty on the rivers)
17 Mar - 15 April (In country, but he had quit combat op, and was off the boats.)

So, what campaign ribbons did he "legitimately" earn, and what campaign stars were "exaggerations" to pad a record?
