Kerry citation a 'total mystery' to ex-Navy chief
August 28, 2004
BY THOMAS LIPSCOMB
Former Navy Secretary John Lehman has no idea where a Silver Star citation displayed on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's campaign Web site came from, he said Friday. The citation appears over Lehman's signature.
"It is a total mystery to me. I never saw it. I never signed it. I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me," he said.
The additional language varied from the two previous citations, signed first by Adm. Elmo Zumwalt and then Adm. John Hyland, which themselves differ. The new material added in the Lehman citation reads in part: "By his brave actions, bold initiative, and unwavering devotion to duty, Lieutenant (jg) Kerry reflected great credit upon himself...."
Asked how the citation could have been executed over his signature without his knowledge, Lehman said: "I have no idea. I can only imagine they were signed by an autopen." The autopen is a device often used in the routine execution of executive documents in government.
Kerry senior adviser Michael Meehan could not be reached for comment on Kerry's records.

My question is this, what would happen if you forged a government document?
Twenty years in federal prison!!!
Uhhh, it is not quite that simple. He was head of a very large bureaucracy and does almost nothing himself.
Nope- that is how the pentagon got sued, successfully, by Linda Trip. Personal records are personal records.
Sen.Kerry: PLEASE SIGN STANDARD FORM 180 !!!
I think the MSM is going to drop this whole thing very soon. Hopefully Fox and the Internet can keep these questions alive.
They seem a little elaborated , don't they? Who has time to write all that stuff up? Senators?
That "vice chairman" of intel committee was not simple sloppiness. The sKerry campaign had used it with the media to prop up sKerry's intel credentials six months before, and no one, not even the excellent researchers here on FR, caught the error then.
They thought they could use it to good effect again, but this time they got caught, and even initially attempted to deny they were in error.
.
Is there any kind of ping list on the subject of Kerry's military records/Swift vets/war stories? If so, I'd like to get on it.
Yes, he has been doing real work. See this from March:

Too lazy to check if this has already appeared in this thread:

Darn. But, wait a minute. Lehman wouldn't have to release them.
All he needs to do is start a heavy PR campaign saying he's getting smeared by this stuff and demand that KERRY authorize the release of all records related to why those citations were issued during Lehman's tenure. Lehman's role on the 9/11 commission just may have given him better media access than Kerry himself! If he starts hitting Kerry, the MSM will listen.
I love this story!
BTTT
This just kicked up the temp in the pressure cooker that Kerry has put himself into.
It will be interesting to see if the MSM spikes this story or attacks John Lehman.
Do take a moment to visit that website, and read what the Silver Star recipients did to earn their awards. I do not think the language is elaboarated, no, I don't.
The language is written by Officers in the US Military.
Since you are personally experienced in the issuing of citations, can you tell me something? Is there any legitimate reason of which you're aware that a request to re-issue a citation would result in something other than a copy of the original citation?
Thank you for your service.
She will not come in this year.
This implosion will take out Kerry, Kennedy and leave the Clintoons in total charge of whats left of the Rat party.
Actually, you jumped to the conclusion that this was routine and the language "boiler plate".
