Two Muslim men were arrested yesterday in connection with a terror plot to detonate a bomb on the D train at the bustling 34th Street/Herald Square station, law enforcement officials told The Post.

The men, who were not identified, were taken into custody by the FBI last night after they had a conversation with an NYPD informant earlier this year at an Islamic bookstore in Brooklyn where they asked him to build a bomb, sources say.

There was no timetable for when the attack would take place, sources said, but knowledge of the plot comes only days before the city hosts President Bush and the Republican National Convention.
