While working on his suntan.
True, it's like a children's story about the 'hero'. But there are some tidbits in the article. I think this says a lot about Kerry when his cronies weren't so, uh, 'careful' in their comments about him:
"John was thinking Camelot when he shot that film, absolutely," says Thomas Vallely, a fellow veteran and one of Kerry's closest political advisers and friends.
No doubt he likens himself to Pres Kennedy, just as many have claimed. And this nugget:
On Jan. 1, 1970, he was given an early release and honorable discharge, leaving as a full lieutenant. After just 4 months?? He had already begun laying groundwork to run for Congress from what was then Massachusetts' 3d District, from Fitchburg to Newton.
It seems as if his 'service' was nothing more than a showpiece, carefully constructed to minimize his time there, keep him physically safe, protest the war, and preserve this 'talent' for future 'public service'. While real people put their personal lives on hold and risked their lives and many never made it back. And as I've said before, many of those who came back after just 4 months (how many men could apply for early discharge after 4 months?) were usually on their way to a recuperative hospital or their funeral. His service was a Potemkin village, a just-for-show thing, he's just a poser.
I am curious about that one. Did he TELL the reporter he was Irish or did the reporter just assume it?
Don't look at it that way. Look at it as a gift that keeps on giving.
Who knew he wasn't Irish or that his war tales were essentially lies in '96 but now many people know that he's a liar and we have it documented.
I'm fairly certain Kerry is not a Scottish name as it's a county in Ireland. "Carey" is also a fairly common Irish surname.
You are correct. That did not register with me when I first read it! It says his FATHER, Richard Kerry was Irish and Scottish. (Actually, he was the son of a Jewish mother and father from Czechoslovakia).
It seems doubtful that the reporter made all that up by himself. Possible, I suppose, but doubtful. The reporter must have been told this by Kerry himself.
Kerry seems to lie about every aspect of his life.
" The OIC would not of course be steering the boat, he's got a Boatswain's Mate for that."
Asked how he filmed in the heat of battle, he demonstrated, gripping an imaginary ship's helm and thrusting his camera hand out to the side.
"I'd steer, or direct, or fire my gun, and hold onto it when I could," Kerry says.
Kerry's tales have gotten him in a real pickle! Ha ha.
Yeah! :^)
Yes. That's better. Somehow I just can't picture John Kerry successfully pulling off John Wayne. The Boston elitey accent would play havoc with the portrayal, for one.
Or Rimmer on Red Dwarf maybe.
