NYU College Dems are not officially encouraging or sponsoring protests at the Republican National Convention, and I know there is some dissent among our members as the effectiveness of protest as a tactic. 12:36 AM michael said... on protesting as a tactic
5:23 PM
Demonstrating anger and frustration with the public is important. I think I was always so unwilling to march because I wanted to concentrate on persuasion, and I think protests are not always the best way to persuade people. My concern was with reaching the people who could persuaded, if they were not alienated by the things I believed in. So ultimately, then, I was concerned that protesting and marching would both demonstrate my anger and alienate people amenable to persuasion and reason.
I think the Republicans coming to visit New York City need to know what people think of them. I think the protests will be a good way of doing that...
Two points: 1. This says it all. It's not Bush they hate. It's us. Bush just symbolizes all conservatives for them.
2. Any Freeper living in N.Y. or any delegate going there ought to bring as many video cameras as possible. The scene aint gonna be pretty and the more it's captured, the more likely voters will turn to the hapless GOP innocents bleeding on the ground.
The rank and file of today's Democrat Party. This should push a few million Reagan Democrats into Bush's column.
Since about 98% of NYU students are Dems, there's one saving grace to this. It might divert severla of them from committing suicide. NYU has had a run of bad luck the last few years, and the start of the semester always seems a popular time to off onesself..
ken....sick , sick humor...:-p
A WELCOME FOR THE REPUBLICANS
Dear Fellow Sufferers in the Shopacalypse.
We are lost in the mall of the transnational corporation known as America, a name taken from a movie produced by tax- and draft-dodgers who hate you. But forgive them, for they have POWER, and power is either grand or it is comic, but either way it is simply the script for CORRUPTION the musical, which was produced by tax and draft-dodgers who hate you. But forgive them, for they have MEDIA drilling each of us for our dreams, memory fragments, moral whispers, and wonderings beneath the night stars, which is used to create a new PERFUME by tax and draft-dodgers who hate you. But forgive them, for they have SEX in the distance, beneath snap-on sunsets bulk-zipped to celebrities who look at you and call you a MARKET, and put you in a dome, and send you down an aisle in a big box, and make you so bored with your life that you actually think that THE NEW TOM CRUISE MOVIE WILL SAVE YOU. This, children, is the Harvard Business School nonsense that made the dead children drink tea in the big 2-day White Sale, do you remember those children? How they discussed Shock and Awe in their displays case while the generals began to sob?
Shopping, you can hardly feel it. We only have the sense that we have forgotten something about our lives.
"MR. KERRY, WE DEMAND THAT YOU CALL OFF THE VIOLENT PROTESTORS AND DISAVOW THEIR MESSAGE, IMMEDIATELY!!"
You'll be able to see two different kinds of protesters at the RNC this week. Those that support treasonous Kerry, and those that want attention.
The difference between the RNC and the DNC is that the RNC is the ones that get the attention of the latter group.
Shows the party that gets paid more attention doesn't it?
It is truly awesome that it works this way. The idiots that support Kerry and the ones that want attention are going to be indistinguishable, and will work against Kerry as middle America watches and decides that they do not want to be associated with the truly extreme people that will make the news each night. The Main(LEFT)stream media will have no choice but to cover the idiotic actions they are sure to perform. Can it get any better than this? I truly love this.
Did anybody hear that NYT has connections to Kerry? Imagine that? Who would've thought huh? /sarcasm
You know, this next week should provide a veritable treasure trove of freaky leftist pics for future posts!
ThankGod I moved. . .We used to live on 10th bet 3rd and 4th. . . I feel sorry for a few of my former conservative neighbors and businesses.
Am I the only one who's actually getting EXCITED about these protests? I can't wait to see the underbelly of the far left be exposed for all the world to see. It makes me wish I were going to the convention so I could wear my "Bush/Cheney" button around the Village and irritate the he!! out of all those tolerant libs.
I'm excited. I posted this just so that folks will understand who's behind it all. The Dems are publicly distancing themselves from the protests, but in reality, they are behind them.
