Driver's Licenses for Illegal Aliens Bill PASSES Again (California State Senate)
The John and Ken Show (KFI 64.0 am, Los Angeles) | truthkeeper

Posted on 08/27/2004 5:34:34 PM PDT by truthkeeper

Well guys, "One Bill Gil" Cedillo snuck this monstrosity in as an attachment to some bill the state senate just HAD to pass. (The official story, anyway.) John and Ken just announced that it passed 21 - 14 moments ago, despite an impassioned, intelligent plea against it by Tom McClintock. The bill now moves on the entire assembly, where it is also expected to pass.

So it looks like Arnold will have a bill to either sign or veto after all.

Once more into the breach.

"The people need to send a strong message to goverment that reminds them of who is really in charge by sending these arrogant career politicians packing."

We started that with Arnold... Now we have to finish the job come November

I think the Governor only has line item veto for appropriations bills.

"...people seem to freak over this latest thing in California and don't even realize they could just go to Tennessee and get one."

That's just about enough slander; pick on some other state.

This is what Cedillo fears. The wailing from Tennnessee's illegal alien advocates is music to my ears.

Yes, being a citizen means primarily that any income you earn--anywhere in the world--is subject to US taxation.

Don't bother your GOP reps though. No one on our side is going to vote for this and they have a thousand other things on their plates right now.

How can you be so sure, they just voted for that anti-First Ammendment, anti-Christian monstrosity.

Here in Virginia, we fixed that loophole with proof of identity and legal residency laws that took effect THIS YEAR!!!

IN ADDITION TO THAT, a rule that Virginia driver's licenses to people here in visas will EXPIRE the same month that the visa does also took effect at the same time.

See the following, cut and paste straight from the VA DMV website!

Legal Presence

Legal presence affects you if:

You are applying for your first Virginia learner's permit or Virginia driver's license;
You are applying for a Virginia photo ID card;
If you are reinstating your driving privilege because your license expired or was suspended, revoked, or cancelled.

If you hold a valid Virginia driver's license, you will not be required to show proof of legal presence when you renew your license. However, if you allow your license to expire, you will be required to show proof of legal presence.

Legal presence means that a person is either a U.S. citizen or is legally authorized to be in the United States. Legal presence can be proved using a U.S. birth certificate or U.S. passport. It also can be proved using a variety of other documents such as a Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization, Resident Alien Card or a valid foreign passport with a visa, I-94 or an I-94W with a participating country.

This new law, passed by the 2003 General Assembly, takes effect January 1, 2004. Be sure to explore this page to learn all about legal presence and how it affects you or someone you know.

The California Supreme Court decided in 1985 0r 86 that a California driver's license was de facto proof of citizenship.

"That's just about enough slander; pick on some other state. "

Just wondering, what do you show when you cash a check or use a credit card ?

That card seems to show that Jane Sample has the right to drive a car - but since it is not I.D. how do you prove that you are Jane Sample ?

Maybe things have changed but a local talk show (KFBK Sacramento) host, Williams, was reminded by a caller that Bustamonte will be acting governor while Schwarzenegger is attending the RNC thing in NYC.

In the old days here that meant the acting governor had the power to be the governor.

If this bill is passed by both houses and is sent to the governor Bustamonte will surely sign it -- unless Schwarzenegger vetoes it before he leaves.

I did not read the thread. Perhaps this has already been discussed.

Also from the Virginia DMV:

If DMV receives notification from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS), law enforcement or another agency that an individual's authorized stay in the U.S. has been terminated, DMV will cancel the individual's driver's license or ID card. The agency will also place an indicator on the person's record prohibiting renewal of a driver's license or issuance of an ID card. DMV will take these actions only if the USCIS verifies in writing that the person's authorized stay in the U.S. has ended.

Just heard Marc Williams (KFBK Sacramento) take a call from someone who had dialed a Schwarzenegger key aide. The aide has set his phone to call forward to THE RADIO STATION! Cute.

Meanwhile the governor's office message system has no facility to take comments on the licenses -- callers are leaving messages on the two or three issues the phone system is accepting. All are filled.

" Legal presence can be proved using a U.S. birth certificate "

You can order birth certificates over the phone - When I got my copy it was a computer printout - sent that in to get my passport... Had to show them my driver's license for I.D. since the certificate has no way to identify me.

>>Our borders are not secure. There is no damn way the illegal alien license can be limited to Mexican invaders since the ACLU will inevitably invoke the 14th Amendment to allow ENERY illegal to get a license.

Best advice to non-Californians: TELL YOUR STATE LEGISLATURES TO >>> BAN <<< CALIFORNIA LICENSEES FROM DRIVING IN THEIR STATES!!!!! This will force the issue to the US Supreme Court and then we'll see if the USA will perish from the earth.<<

It may be a damn good idea to quit flying on COMMERCIAL AIRLINERS that demand photo ID prior to boarding.

This is what the VA DMV says:

Temporary documents and photocopies of documents
will not be accepted. All documents must be originals
and all documents may be subject to verification with
the issuing entity prior to acceptance. DMV may require
additional documents. DMV will not accept a document
when there is reason to believe it has been altered,
fraudulently obtained or is fake, forged, counterfeit or
otherwise non-genuine or illegitimate.

Another thing I have been posting for four 1/2 years.

I was afraid that might be the case.

Options:

Arnold immediately vetoes the bill and sets the La Raza mob to shrieking just before heading out to speak at the convention. ("I'm sorry, sir, I can't find your name on the guest list. How did you spell that again?")

Or he leaves it in Cruz Bustamante's tender care while he's gone. ("Sure, Gil. I can sign anything right now...")

Or he stays at home in Calfornia to handle the matter and either bows out of the convention or does his speech via satellite feed.

Few things just "happen by coincidence" in politics.

From "New Law Allows Tennessee to Track Immigrants Through Driving Records"

On July 1, Tennessee became the first state in the country to track some of its immigrants through driving records. Instead of a state-issued driver's license, temporary and undocumented immigrants will receive a driving certificate. State officials say they need to know which immigrants are undocumented or temporary because of the potential homeland security threat.

Tennessee's Homeland Security Director, Major General Jerry Humble explains "From now on, immigrants will also need to carry with them other official forms of identification, such as a passport."

But if the certificate isn't official for identification purposes, it's not clear what it is good for and this is what confuses some immigrants.

Sam Ihmeadan and Muhmaid Alameemi are standing outside the Islamic Center of Nashville after their afternoon prayers. They're both from Kuwait and they'll both have to get driving certificates when their current licenses expire. They say a Tennessee driver's license is an all-access pass into American society.

"The driver's license we had, it was like, major ID. Can't leave home without it, more than American Express." "They ask for a driver's license when you write a check. You have to give the driver's license." "It's a major document, they ask for it, anywhere you go."

Both men are concerned they'll now have to carry their passports, which don't fit into a wallet, and they're afraid someone might steal them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As if we Americans are cut any slack anywhere else in the world. Legal immigrants can do business with their passports and home country ID. Illegal immigrants can drive here with their home country driver's licenses for that matter, so the whole "we need your license to drive here" argument is totally bogus.

Oh yeah; this made automatic "Motor-Voter" registration for Tennessee's illegals a thing of the past. The advocates don't like that either but don't dare breathe a word about it.

I am a little confused. Do they mean criminals here illegally, or legal immigrants?
