Bill Maher returns with a new edition Friday at 11 pm. Bill's guests this week: reporter Ashleigh Banfield, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher and author Michael Eric Dyson. Plus, author and Swift Boat veteran John E. O'Neill, talk show host Chris Matthews and Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski via satellite.
As the Campaign of 2004 heats up, Bill Maher and his guests examine "527" ads, Vice President Cheney's stand on gay marriage, toxic fish, "eugenics" as a campaign platform, and the church's involvement in politics.
Chris Matthews is probably using how much money is making being a liberal talk show host to illustrate his point.
FWIW, I fought the gag reflex and watched long enough to see all of the O'Neill segment. He was great. I think he really surprised the preening Maher with his manner and command of the facts.
His demeanor was a perfect counter to that of the smarmy host.
Is anybody going to actually tell the rest of us what happened on the show????????
I'd love to know. We don't get HBO in our house. Will check the thread tomorrow to see if there are any notes.
Oh--you saw it. Sissy, get'em saw it and says it went well.
Please tell the rest of us what was said????
This vermin should be in a military brig, awaiting court martial and imprisonment, not on some talk show.
O'NEIL KICKED A$$. HE IS SOLID AND CREDIBLE AND ENGAGING! WOO HOO! HE IS A STRAIGHT SHOOTER WHO LOVES HIS COUNTRY AND HE'S SOUNDING THE ALARM. MAHER LOOKED VERY DISPLEASED WITH THE INTERVIEW, AND THE LEFTY CROWDS REALIZATION THAT KERRY IS IMPLODING WAS POWERFUL.
WHEN I FIRST HEARD HE WAS GOING ON WITH MAHER, I WAS SKEPTICAL, BUT HE WAS SO POWERFUL. WHAT A PATRIOT HE IS!!
Maher went into his pro-Kerry spin about Vietnam, Kerry's claims, Swiftee motives, et.al. and O'Neill never wavered.
On a couple of ocassions, Maher seemed visibly speechless as if trying to gather himself. O'Neill even got some applause. It was really good.
If there's a replay on HBO, take it in. The best part is that O'Neill is on the first segment so you don't have to sit through a lot of spew waiting for it.
Amen...ALL Republicans should refuse to appear on either Maher or Hardball. Period. They will rapidly be cancelled.
Disagree on that one. Though I can't stand Maher and never watch his crap, O'Neill reached an audience that he never would by talking to Rush or Hannity.
I've seen him a number of times now and I think he moves the ball because he's such a good communicator... regardless of the interviewer or the audience.
I hope Bush rewards O'Neill's 30 years of loyalty to the nation by nominating him to a Judicial seat in the next 4 years. He is more than qualified for such a position. "Justice John O'Neill"...how'd ya like them apples?
It's a sweet dream, but by the time this is all over, O'Neill will have as much chance for a judicial seat as Ken Starr.
He'll be a hero to many and an honorable man by any measure. But he will be politically radioactive.
Maher has a non-existent audience rating, so he is irrelevant. But "HardBall" must be blacklisted. I want Chris Matthews (and Herr Olbermann as well) thrown out on their ears for what they did to the lovely and gracious Michelle Malkin.
I just checked, and it comes on here at 11:00. If I can get the remote away from the little hubby, I'm definately going to watch.
Thanks for the info.
You'll be done by 11:15. It's worth the watch.
It's funny, in early America such political battles tended to strengthen one's chances for advancement in other fields. John O'Neill has won his 30-year battle with John Kerry. The Great Debate has finally been settled, and patriotism has finally vanquished 60's-radical treachery, over Vietnam. November 2 will be a great day for America, as we continue in earnest the total repudiation of the 1960s which Ronald Reagan began.
I know what you mean. He's obviously a great leader. I suppose he'd have a shot at a prominent role in public life if it weren't for the liberal media. What do you think his chances will ever be of getting any favorable press? He'll be the next "McCarthy."
Bad move.
Between Matthews and Maher's screaming and Michael Eric Dyson spouting idiotic BS but making it rhyme so the brain-dead will think he said something profound O'Neill will not do well in this format.
the entire audience, and 80% of the panel will be against him.
He shouldn't be wasting his time.
Has O'Neil or the people that are booking him seen this show?
