Bad idea. Calm reason is not effective against snot-nosed college sarcasm of the liberals.
For Matthews, I think it is personal.
He has talked in the past about how his family is mainly conservative.
The other day he was talking about his brother who was in VN, and sounds as if there have been some arguments between the brother and his wife vs. Chrissie.
I don't who can knock sense into that guy's thick skull, except for a family member who he may actually listen to, unlike any guest on his own show who he tramples and spits on.
I hope John O'Neill brings his M-16 to the interview...
I hereby nominate John O'Neill for the Congressonal Medal of Honor for his bravery and stalwart support of the USA and all it stands for his heroic appearances in the face of the enemy at great personal risk to himself.
Who will second this nomination?
If that award is not available, How about a Free Republic Medal of recognition for his heroism? We need to create such a medal here. I am not an artist. Someone needs to run with this idea. These medals could be a limited, numbered series. Jim Rob gets #1.
Why isn't Gen. Janis Karpinski in jail? She was in charge of Abu Ghraib when the panty helmets were passed out.
O'Neill will probably do the one-on-one interview segment. No interaction with the panel - they come on after and get a chance to comment.
Not on this issue he isn't. Ask any Lib.
Maher will stack the deck against him in a big way and pile on it (look at the list of guests). Bad tactical manuever by O'Neil.
Oh good GAWD! He'll never get one WORD in as Maher whines incessently in that God-awful, nasly voice of his. It'll be a repeat of the Michelle Malkin/Chris Matthews shouting match.
Will I be watching? You bet. :) Just to see the look on Bill's face as he slowly comes to realize the world isn't populated by Hollywood elitists.
Didn't Free Republic give a medal to Brit Hume once. Not for the same thing but for Journalism I think? I could be wrong on this. But I remember a picture of that posted a while ago.
I said that to myself too after his "those pilots were courageous" crap right after 9/11. I already pay for HBO though, so even if I were a Neilsen ratings member, (which I'm not), it wouldn't help him any more to watch, just this one time.
I usually do avoid him just out of principle though.
They will talk over John and not let him speak.
I know. I hope John O'Neill realizes that.
O'Neil has also been quoted as saying he voted for AlGore.
You nailed it. O'Neill is completely unruffled. In ANY appearance ,have you seen him resort to behavior that is unbecoming, be unprepared, and not be patient?
The man is indefatigable.
Someone said God Speed earlier, and I whole-heartedly agree.
bump TO SUPPORT THE NEW SWIFT VETS AD AND GEORGE BUSH... http://swift2.he.net/~swift2/gardner2.mpg
Bill Maher???
Who is he?
................lol
I was being sarcastic. No offense to the book or anything, but O'Neill clerked for Rehnquist, worked for Nixon, and has donated exclusively to Republicans and the Republican party in federal elections (public record). He also said he voted for Perot, but he gave to Bush that same election cycle.
O'Neill is surely making these claims in order to avert criticism of being partisan, but his track record seems to undercut them and Corsi's is brutal. I would MUCH rather that they did the grunt work for the book then find some eager Woodward-wannabe to slap his name on it.
