Lap Dances,Drugs and alcohol
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (News 4) News 4 has learned of disciplinary action against baseball players and coaches at Bear Creek High School. The action came after players went to a strip club during a spring break trip.
While in Arizona for a baseball tournament, some players and coaches drove south to Mexico.
That side trip, and the activities in Mexico, led to a number of Jefferson County School District violations. The school District is now sharing all the details. They include talk of strippers, lap dances and drugs and alcohol. And in the end, no one is fired.
Bear Creek High School baseball players, led by their coaches Mitch Hartung and Bill McLean, force district officials to open an investigation this past summer.
"There was no approval to go to Mexico," School district communication director Rick Kaufman said.
The team went to Arizona but then took a side trip to Mexico twice. The first trip apparently was just parents and players.
The second trip, led by coach McLean and a parent volunteer coach included seven players.
The group split up, and some of the boys did more than cross the border.
"(They) went to a strip club, paid for lap dances, purchased alcohol, consumed alcohol," Kaufman said. "(There were) allegations that they may have purchased drugs and brought them back into the United States as well."
The violations added up. The travel policy, supervision guidelines, district, school and team rules and the student conduct code all were disregarded.
"No one lost their job," Kaufman said.
Both Hartung and McLean are back at Bear Creek this fall.
The district said it did discipline them, but personnel records are kept private.
The same situation applies to the students.
"All I can tell you is that they received disciplinary action," Kaufman said.

Sad
Great, I live in Lakewood. So much for protecting "the children".
My beeber is stuned to hear this news.
Sounds to ne like they went to a bordello...lap dances, my ass..
And to think that I used to get into trouble for throwing the high hard one.
I used to live there also, was about miles from bear creek. Living in Longmont now.
To heck with the strip club, going to MX alone should be cause for termination as well as a lawsuit.
Oh the hunanity! Can you imagine teen boys wanting to go to a stip club. What has become of this world?
Use the Vegas defense...What happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico.
Ain't no thang. My high school soccer team took a side trip to a brothel one day. We were looking for a sponsor and our coach was good friends with Joe Conforte out at Mustang Ranch. Joe wasn't in that day.
I think we need pictures of the crime sceen!
Proof positive, that education is not about education, it is just a farm club for college/pro athletics. Ross Perot said it well, the only reason you have 10,000 students in a high school, is it gives you a better starting lineup.
Yeah - spankin's!
Boys' Town.
Never been there.
Not going back.
