Kerry's Attempt to Finesse Iraq Issue May Backfire
Washington Post ^ | August 27, 2004 | Terry M. Neal

...........The Republican National Committee is circulating an edited video of Kerry's comments on Iraq, some of which show Kerry arguing that Iraq's efforts to obtain and use weapons of mass destruction and the potential of those weapons flowing from Iraq to terrorist organizations are a basis for removing Hussein.

After months of attacking President Bush's motives and credibility during the Democrat presidential primary, going so far as to declare himself the anti-war candidate, John Kerry now says knowing what he knows now he would still have voted for the Iraq war," said Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie at a news conference this week. "Senator Kerry's ever changing positions on Iraq are not the kind of steady leadership we need in these times of challenge and change. And we're going to continue to make that point between now and November 2."

A spokesman for the Kerry campaign dismissed the Republican video as a distortion of his words for political purposes. But the bad news for Kerry is that those political purposes seem to have found an audience. The online video has been viewed more than 6 million times, according to the RNC.....

Here's a quote from a Yahoo story about Bush today:

On other points, Bush said:

_The campaign for the White House "really doesn't seem that ugly to me" despite the furor over political ads by outside groups attacking Kerry's war record.

*Snicker*

One of the speakers at the RNC should offer a tribute to how eloquently the President made the case for Iraq. Then, when showing an example video clip, have Kerry's version "accidently" come up. Repeat and have Bill Clinton's 1998 rhetoric come up. Then show the President's and say, remember folks, only the third one is a lie.

And Kerry can't blame his position on Bush's 'lies' since Kerry was calling for the outing of Saddam as early as 1998. And Kerry spoke more harshly of Saddam before Bush made any major speeches on the subject.

I am so glad that JfnK is such a weak candidate. With almost the entire main stream media against Bush, any stronger of a dem candidate would be hard to overcome. JfnK being his own worst enemy - it's a good thing.

If the Democrat Party has any brains whatsoever (which they don't) they would dump John Kerry right now! The guy is both a loser and a traitor!!!

The author makes a show of objectivity, but in the end he Kerries John's water. The antiwar base will still turnout with energy, despite Kerry disingenuously taking a position razor-thinly close to Bush's. The media will accept the myths that Kerry would have built a coalition and had a plan to win the peace; failing that, he would have not invaded. We all know that Kerry would NOT have invaded. Through the media/campaign artifice, they sidestep the criticism against Kerry that Saddam would still be in power.

The lying crooked liberals are known for pulling their candidate at the last minute, this may well be what Hillry's October surprise is all about.....

Dumping him wouldn't work. It would show they were in disarray - which they are. No, I think they'll continue to lie and cheat and steal and hope it all comes out in the wash.

I really don't want him dumped. I want to him totally destroyed. I just want to encourage anything that will destroy him and the current "traitor" Democrat Party.

Remember back in 2000 when the mainstream media said then candidate Bush had no gravitas? Senator Kerry is the poster boy for the phrase no gravitas, especially since he picked Senator Edwards to be his running mate!
