The heightened security for the Republican convention resulted in four Pakistani students from St. John's University being detained in Times Square last night.

The four, who were in a burgundy van, were taken into custody shortly after 5 p.m. outside the Marriott Marquis hotel on Broadway and West 45th Street after cops thought they were acting suspiciously.

They were questioned for at least seven hours at the Midtown North precinct on West 54th Street while anxious relatives waited outside. Police sources said two of the students were on an FBI watch list.

From a terrorism story today in us.rediff.com:

As one (Pakistani) quipped: "Every second jihadi I know has a computer and is always busy checking information on buildings in the US--their height & width and their possible vulnerable areas--and it is their routine practice to make plans with computer graphics to bring down US buildings to the ground."

Police sources said two of the students were on an FBI watch list.

We have turned into a country of politically correct wimps. A watch list? Why isn't this a deport list? Oh, that list doesn't work either.

Immediately following 9/11, we should have ordered all citizens of muslim countries to leave the the United States immediately. Future entry into the US should have been barred indefintiely. Illegal immigrants of all nations should have been deported immediately. The border with Mexico should have been secured. (Personally, I like the idea of motion sensitive machine guns - you cross our border illegal - you die. No second chances. I should note I have no problem with legal immigration with Mexico and other nations, but Muslim terrorists are crossing the border.) That leaves our northern border open. Perhaps we don't need machine guns on the Canadian border - Muslim terrorists tend to stand out a bit more in the middle of North Dakota.

There was a bomb and 12 AK-47's in the van but there is no evidence of terrorism. < /sarcasm >

A "Kerry in 04" bumper sticker was found on the van so they were let go.

Jihadi boards earlier this year also asked sympathetic Muslims to overload our system with false alarms, aka, videotaping, etc. Get our guys chasing too many false leads.

Fine. Then we should deport every one of these vermin that so much as farts too loudly. Any suspicious behavior + muslim = immediate deportation.
