A group calling itself the Uptown Girls, came to the convention to protest a little unprepared. They rappelled off the walls of the Plaza Hotel and hung this banner that said truth and underneath said Bush. With an arrow next to truth pointing to the right and an arrow next to Bush pointing to the left. A graphic design mishap that probably misrepresented the protestors own sentiment. Hey Uptown Girls, you only had four years to put this idea together, so if the right loses Bush at least they still have the truth on their side. Are you really sure you want Bush over there on the left with all of you? Your side complains about him being stupid, but Ill hazard a guess that if he had four years to come up with a two word and two symbol piece of art he would have at least been able to get the arrows pointing the right way. Hope the simplistic design of your banner wont influence any of your illiterate members to vote for Bush because his arrow was pointing to your side. Next time spend a little more time on designing you banner for the 2008 Republican Convention, and a little less time finding a Billy Joel song for your protest groups name; maybe you will get it right when you protest the next convention for the republican replacement for Bush. Good luck making it around town, just remember that usually both the truth and Bush are on the right and you will have no problem staying left and too-stupid-for-words forever. Me 8/27/04

So I read that they've been charged with felonies due to the fact that a cop was severely injured (fell through a skylight) attempting to apprehend them.

Try,
truth for them is left, aiming downtown as the street numbers recede going 'south'
and Bush is "Right", aiming "uptown" where street numbers go up.
To: BC girl
I think it actually had to do with the convention. "Truth" pointed toward Central Park, where there are bunch of protests planned. Bush pointed to the convention site.

Here it is. I guess I don't see what the big deal is. They've got truth and Bush going in opposite directions.

They were trying to convey that Bush and the truth are going in different directions. I don't see how the direction of the arrows make any difference as long as they are opposite.
To say that the correlate to the street addresses of New York is ridiculous.

From the comments on my pitiful blog in reaction to a
great photo of the banner taken by my coblogger TubaBoy.
- Ah. I get it: Bush leans too far to the left, and whereas the "truth" is located more toward the right.
Hell yeah, you guys tell 'em!
- Bush, to the left? Somebody didn't do his homework.
- Did they get a permit for that? Thought not.
- I think it's just a public service, pointing to the location of the RNC...
- I agree that TRUTH is to the right. I also agree that BUSH has been moving somewhat to the left.
So what's the big deal?
- Truth = Light / Bush = Dark Someone studied when to drop the banner for maximum lighting effect. Clever idiots!
- Hey guys it doesn't show left and right, it shows uptown and downtown.

According to the NYC police chief interviewed on Fox News, they're facing 25 years for felony assault on a police officer.
