We can't fault you for not remembering the Democratic convention of 1968 in Chicago, but it was so wild with protesters, and many of them violent, that the Chicago police had to engage them with crowd control tactics guaranteed to mess up democrat's plans.
Their antics were so successful that Richard Nixon, the person most hated by the media and the left wing of the United States, was elected president, having lost to John Kennedy just eight years earlier.
Viva the left wing.
