Probably for having the gall to remind her that a whole lot of white men died to give her the freedom she now enjoys.
How dare you do that ?? (/sarcasm)
it was a tempest in the local area & little noticed elsewhere.
in point of fact, most people in the US couldn't READ, thus what the papers said amounted to ZILCH to the masses.

History is a wonderful thing, no matter what it was. Studying it is a gift. And it is way better and more interesting than fiction.
try using any of the major search engines.
you KNOW i'm correct, N-S.
today i don't have time today to mess with the Minister of Damnyankee Propaganda, though you are a BUNCH smarter than the cretins/morons/haters/ unionistloonies that you lead.

Ah what a bad person that freeper was *lol*
No, I know that you're full of crap. I just like pointing it out.
I pinged stand watie to this thread to educate you you genius. sw has his work cut out for him!
yep! and they haven't changed either... exchanged the klan suit for the business suit
"The SCV is not well served by its leadership. Bowling seems not to understand that neither the city fathers of Gettysburg, Adams County government, nor the National Park Service have any control over what goes on at a private college. Any college will produce a good bit of stupidity in this day and age, and this is a fairly typical example of the determined idiocy of college leftists."
Damning the city of Gettysburg is just stupid, and doesn't serve the membership of the SCV well at all.
Bowling seems to be looking for a fight, where there isn't one, and perhaps is hoping to garner some financial support for this organization.
As for the cheap shots being taken at Gettysburg (t-shirts and fast food outlets? How bout considering over 25 square miles has been wonderfully preserved? How bout noting BOTH SIDES are treated with the dignity and respect they BOTH DESERVE?) they are completely uncalled for.
The success of the civil rights era and America being a mostly non-racist, probably the least racist, has left Morris Dees sitting around like the Maytag man.
>> Shiloh, dear intelligent one, is in Tennessee and was fought for the railroad crossroads of Corinth, Mississippi.<<
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah... Already been corrected. My brother visited it while visiting a friend in Tupelo, and at, what was it, midnight? the wrong state flew off my fingers. Its still a couple hours away from any city (Nashville or Memphis), and therefore a lot easier to keep so, well, pristine.

Because they are young ladies, of course. And ladies, particularly those with Southern sympathies, do not punch men in the nose. We have recourse to other tactics.

>>and you are a DUNCE, who posts STUPIDITY.<<
Golly, I sure am glad I was educated. It took two of you to come up with such an eloquent statement, did it?
They are indeed cheap shots. Those of us who live near Gettysburg and spend a great deal of time there, as I do, are of course a little disgusted by the tee-shirt shops and junk souvenir outlets. But the free enterprise system does not permit us to close down legal businesses because they offend our tastes. And these businesses pay property taxes that permit Gettysburg to provide a lot of costly services for the staggering numbers of tourists who visit the town each year. The shops are a source of jobs for local people, too.
Of course we would all like the battlefield returned to its previous pristine state, as it was a century ago. Of course it would be more picturesque if Gettysburg were filled with enchanting, period-correct houses and stores, and the streets crowded with authentically-dressed reenactors. But for now, this will have to do, and we should be grateful that the great national outdoor church which is Gettysburg is preserved for us.
Meanwhile, it wouldn't be a bad thing if some outraged reenactors found that idiot who is defacing the Confederate flag, took him to one of Gettysburg's dark alleys, and explained to him about the logical errors in his stance. He seems like the stubborn type so they might have to explain to him fairly hard.
In my last trip to G'burg, the guide asked to drive thru the BigMac at the entrance of the park. Dangus, with each post your are getting fragged, please stop.
Well said.

Around 1992 my wife and I considered buying the Codori (spelling?) House, it was on the market for about $150K. I've been trying for the past four years to find the time to visit Gettysburg again. Alas, life just moves to fast for the time being.
Yipes! There's capitalism in Gettysburg!
The National Park Service, with the cooperation, and appreciation of locals, has preserved large amounts of land. Not all of Gettysburg was so preserved, because it's a city. And yesa, IN THOSE PORTIONS OF GETTYSBURG which ARE NOT preserved, there is CAPITALISM. Shriek! horrors! Or is it your opinion there should be no fast food and no commerce available in the state of Georgia?
