I've looked into this carefully, and have come to conclude that Hispanics in the US in aggregate are no more than 40% registered Catholics,I think you're being generous --- you can count the "Catholics" who actually show up at Mass on a Sunday in a town like El Paso and it's not even 10% of the population which is counted as Catholic.

Registered just means they signed up at the Church. Mass attendance in Hispanic neighborhoods at least up north where I am familiar with the situation (as also in poor white neighborhoods) is appallingly low.
