Survey says whites not majority in Texas anymore
KLTV 7 TX ^ | August 26, 2004 | KLTV 7 TX

HOUSTON White non-Hispanics are no longer the majority in Texas -- for the first time since the 1800's.

Today's Census Bureau survey says whites stopped being the majority in Texas as of last year.

Also, the numbers show that Texas joined only Illinois and North Carolina in having a poverty rate that measurably increased -- while income decreased -- in 2002-03.

Texas state demographer Steve Murdock says the two trends are related as economic woes have slowed white migration from other states.

Luis Figueroa with the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund says the future of Latinos is the future of Texas, as the population numbers show.

Also:

-- Most of the Texas population expansion since 2000 has come from births and international immigration -- both sources of predominantly Hispanic growth.

-- The black population remained basically flat, at around ten-point-eight percent.

-- Asian-Americans now account for about three percent of the Texas population.

It is an attitude that is common with people like Fox. They would probably kill themselves if they found any indian blood in them. You do not know the color issues that Mexico and Mexicans have.

Here this is what was said by Miss Bolivia during the Miss Universe contest. Vicente Fox is a softcore color/ethnic bigot. If you aren't white, you know when you are in the presence of such a person. If you are white, then you know them too by the lengths they go to prove how white they are, in fact whiter than you.

Bolivia - This low-lying city on the edge of the Amazon has long had something of a superiority complex, which was put embarrassingly on display in June at the Miss Universe competition. Bolivia's contestant, Gabriela Oviedo, a strapping Santa Cruz native, told judges that not all her countrymen were "poor people and very short people and Indian people."

"I'm from the other side of the country, from the east, where it's not cold," she added. "It's very hot, and we're tall, and we are white and can speak English."

I've noticed this since the 1950s. Some restraunt owners I have known since then used to join various small business associations and tax-reduction groups. They were very socially conservative but always voted Democrat. I pointed out to them (we argued for about 35 years over this) that their politics and ethics fit the Republicans better than the Deomcrats. Their comments were, "The Republicans don't want us."

Vincente Fox is not "Spanish" or "Hispanic" in the sense of being someone of Spanish ethnicity or ancestoral descent from the Ibero-Roman people of Spain and Portugal. I've never heard of any Spaniard named "Fox".

He is 3/4 Spanish descent and 1/4 Irish which must account for the "Fox"

Nor any Spaniard named "Sahagun", as in his wife, Marta Sahagun.

Its a bit of stretch to claim he is a representative of "the Spanish imperialist mind" when he is not Spanish.

He is 3/4 Spanish. Straight out of Spain to Mexico + 2-3-4 generations

I'm sure FReepers will scream about this, but there has been a good deal of "good old boyedness" amongst Republicans, especially in the South. Up until recently, I imagine a lot of Texan Republicans would have been opposed to voting for a Hispanic candidate.

She is compared to Gabriel Garcia Marquez. (major lefty friend of Castro) I can't get into the fantasy mode of these popular Hispanic/Spanish authors. Their books are incomprehensible to me, and I given them a try. I do read and like fiction. Not this kind though.

It's completely normal for ethnic majorities such as myself in a host country to wish not to see themselves become minorities.

Can you think of an exception to that rule historically?

I saw the movie late one night. The main guy running the plantation reminded me of Fox immediately.

It is always more of the same. But, there are more Hispanics using FR than ever so it will probably change; I had a ping list but lost it; I should probably make another.

It makes the FR look bad and it is hard to get more Hispanics to participate... I don't know... got to get more on board for taking them on.

I agree, but liberal discussion forums are far worse. At least the discussion very honest. I've been liberal discussion forums and have left them after a few posts. Liberals are very irrational.

I want to make another ping list for HISPANIC threads; anyone want on board I'll ping you....

We need to show that HISPANICS are welcome at the Free Republic and that most Republicans, about 99%, are not slipping in mental capabilities because of old age or hanging out too long by themselves.....

Perhaps Fox is "Irish" like Fr. Malachi Martin is "Irish".
