State Democrats Accused of Intimidating Unregistered Voters
Fox Carolina ^ | 8/25/05

Posted on 08/26/2004 3:47:36 PM PDT by Dane

There is quite a brouhaha in South Carolina politics this week as we let You Decide 2004. It’s all over a voter registration mailer that seems to suggest if you don’t vote, you might get drafted.

The United States has the largest volunteer military in the world. Mostly young people go to recruiting stations to either serve their country or reap the education benefits.

But mention a draft--and it gets a lot of people going. The democrats managed to do exactly that this summer.

It may have come as a surprise in your mailbox, and an unpleasant one. When you open the envelope it's from the President of the United States, ordering you to report for military duty. The letter even lists a time and date your service begins.

On another page, accusations that President Bush mislead the country into war, and a list of the human and financial cost to the country. The bottom reads, "which form would you rather fill out?” It refers to the draft form or a form to register to vote.

Edwin Foulke, Jr., GOP Chairman for Greenville County says, “I think it's despicable to tell you the truth.”...

My Mom told me about this. It is totally insane. Democrats are becoming more and more predictable.

Not the only lie they've told. The Democrats seem to have a motto, when in doubt; lie. When things dont go our way; lie.

The talk in the letter about how many lives and how much the war in Iraq costs in the same "Anti-American" crap that the Communist let Vietnam Veterans Agains the Vietnam War spread in the 1970's by John Kerry. He's at it again.

"Still, the Democrats say the voter registration drive was very successful and that unregistered voters can expect a similar drive between now and the November election."

Stupid people form the Dems' base.

Aren't there laws about misuse of federal forms?

I think that before the election the media will try to stir up a general sense that Congress will bring back the draft if Bush is re-elected. This is a very potent weapon for the Dems.

This is why I hate to hear Republicans talking about how we should bring back the draft. If the Crats can get a bunch of Republicans to vote with them to bring back the draft, in even one house of Congress, that may be enough to make the difference and cause Bush to lose.

(I am 39).

John Kerry needs to repudiate this, he obviously knew about this and had a hand in it. Is John Ashcroft looking into this? Has the FEC been contacted?

Check the lawyer's client lists!

Assholes.

We live in one of the MOST Democrap counties in S.C. I do not think it would be an exaggeration to say that 70% of the population is either dependent on a government handout or works for the Democrap city or county government. If we want to vote for local officials (sheriff, etc.), we must vote in Dem primaries because that is where they are elected since there are no Republican candidates. There fore, we could not vote in what was a special Rep. primary to us for U.S. Senate candidate. It is a true MESS and unfortunately, we can see this happening in even larger cities if Pubbies do not accept the importance of voting!

Yeah, if the Democrats need to draft young (mostly conservative Republican) South Carolinians to get a campaign staff, they'll learn the folly of a draft all right.

Thing is, I'd bet 10 against 1 that the Dems or Reps either one will "have to" reinstate the draft at some near-future point, but that the Dems know this.

They whole theme, and all the public ones, are a farce.

There were 14 co-signers to the Democrat sponsored bill in the House to bring back the draft. All of them are Democrats. One has since withdrawn his name as a co-signer.

The Senate bill was also sponsored by a Democrat (with no co-signers).

The only people trying to bring back the draft are Democrats.

The only Republicans talking about bringing the draft back are RINOs. Most of this draft talk is coming from the Dems. And certainly, the military does not want a draft.

Somebody tell these people that the only people suggesting reinstating the draft are democrats.

Newbie, can you name a single member of the armed forces who supports the draft?

The services are now a highly professional all-volunteer force that enjoys a high re-enlistment rate and can afford to skim the cream from the recruits, given that they are so far ahead of their recruiting goals.

Do you believe everything the mainstream media and Terry McAuliffe tell you?
