Emotions: Walking down the flight line at Saigon past stacks of aluminum cases containing American bodies and past stacks of aluminum luggage containing American currency. Seeing the tight, sad face of an Airman loading the bodies aboard a dirty Air Force Transport and the wide smiling face of a stewardess greeting the passengers aboard a clean Pan American Clipper Jet. Hearing a Vietnamese beg you to leave his country and an American colonel tells you to bomb his country. Hearing a Vietnamese invite you to live in his home, after the war and an American explain why you can’t live in his block, after the war. Flying over barren, brown, safe American held terrain and over lush, green unsafe enemy terrain. Feeling happy to be leaving a country in which you do not belong and sad to be returning to a country in which you are not allowed to belong. Sacrificing a portion of your consciousness so you won’t have to deal with being there and building mental blocks so you won’t have to deal with having been there.

on the American Communist Party's nickel.

I heard from someone who was in Miami with VVAW at the time who said their slogan was: 'Why Switch Dicks In the Middle of a Screw- Reelect Nixon in '72'

I don't think anybody thought of killing Nixon, because that would have been contrary to the law. Besides in 1972 Dick was doing a 'perfectly clear' job of tying the Milhouse millstone around his own neck. But was he a crook or not, dunno yet!


Somebody did manage to stop John Wayne's limo on Collins Avenue and stall his ride into the RNC by pulling out the distributor cap. Was it the Yippie Vets? Who was the MCC?

There is more on the demonstration on 4/9/72 at Nixon's compound in FBI Section 15, pages 14f, 31, 33, 34, 35, 37, and 59. VVAW was there, flying the flag upside down, carrying a man on a stretcher, and being the royal traitors they always have been.

Note that this was only 4 days after the FBI learned that the North Vietnamese leaders had phoned the anti-war movement about being "ready to take action" when the bombing escalation took place. (Section 15, page 24).

Nixon knew his enemy... and they weren't only in Vietnam.
