HEROES DON'T SHOUT
The New York Post ^ | August 24, 2004 | RALPH PETERS

Posted on 08/26/2004 2:14:35 PM PDT by waRNmother.armyboots

JOHN Kerry went to Vietnam. Voluntarily. Given that President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and every chicken-hawk in the coop did all they could to avoid getting the mud of Indochina on their loafers, his service should make Kerry the election-year choice of those who serve, or once served, in our country's uniform. Instead, military men and women are overwhelmingly suspicious of Kerry. Many despise him so intensely that their emotions verge on hatred. What went wrong? There are three big problems with Kerry from the standpoint of those who are proud of their military service. And one of those reservations has been overlooked entirely by the parade of talking heads, so few of whom have served in uniform themselves. As far as the swift-boat controversy goes, it's likely to remain a he-said-she-said issue through Election Day. The red flag to military men and women is that so many swift-boat veterans have come out against John Kerry. Not just one. Not 10. Dozens upon dozens. This is as rare as humility in the Hamptons. Vets stick together. Kerry likes to play up his "band of brothers" image, but if he's got a band, his opponents have a symphony.

Obviously this guy does not like Bush and outside of his ad hominems the rest of the article is a good reason to vote for Bush.

Ralph Peters MI is a protege of Claudia Kennedy, the Coos Officer, he hates Rumsfeld with a passion, cause of what he did to shinseki and the other perfumed princes.

He is also upset cause Bush and company haven't shown the kind of resolve needed to finish the terr's by taking out the first level and the next three support levels.

It's not "he said - she said," it's more like "he said - everyone else said!"

And doesn't it seem that, rather than personal convictions, courage, etc., it's far more likely it was John Kerry's delusional worship of JFK that drove him to emulate his hero by joining the Navy and getting into the Viet Nam-era equivalent of the PT-boat?

I mean, can you see Kerry doing anything for what the rest of us would call "normal" reasons?

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how video footage of John Kerry testifying is "he said, she said" or "SBV members lying."

Granted, it is one Swift Boat veteran lying.

I like what Rummy did to Shinseki and the other perfumed princes. I think most of the military does. I would watch Shinseki on Cspan and for some unknown reason just did not like the man. It is the intuition or "gut instinct" thing.

Boy, the swiftvets link is really hard to get into today. I wonder if it's legit traffic or a Dem attack. Wouldn't put it past someone like moveon to attack the day a new ad goes up.

This article is the sum of exactly how I feel about John Kerry. I am a retired veteran and this should be on the front page of every newspaper in the nation. This is why I believe that any veteran that would vote for John Kerry has lost their mind. I do however approve of the president more than Mr. Peters does and I think that George W. Bush is a hero who held up this country in a time when it could have turned very disasterous indeed....

Shinseki told the truth. That truth wasn't what the neocons wanted to hear.

Peters resents seeing a good man ruined for telling the truth instead of what his superior wanted to hear.

"Real heroes don't shout"............But do they play with toy guns?

Kerry's "New Soldiers"/"band of brothers" take over the U.S. Capitol in their 1971 "guerrilla" action. [ From www.winter.com ]

What was shinseki correct about, black berets, still get shook at all those rangers standing in ranks.

The styker, maybe, but what was the kick back form the canadian company building them, about becoming senator from hawaii?

If shinskei had been listened too, we would have have waited to the crusader was ready for air drop deployment to Afghanistan.

I like peters hell even after meeting him, but he gets real weird around his COOS buddies.

Kerry says many of the right things. But I can't believe a word of it. I just can't trust John Kerry. I can't trust him to lead, I can't trust him to fight — and I can't trust him to make the right kind of peace. I have reservations about voting for George W. Bush. But I have no reservations about voting against John Kerry. And I'm not alone.

An intellectually honest appraisal.

Little known fact: GWB's Air National Guard unit was rotating through Vietnam. Not a very good dodge if one was doing "all they could to avoid getting the mud of Indochina"...

And don't forget that George W. Bush volunteered for Vietnam, but was told that the program he volunteered for was being discontinued because the plane he was trained in was not suitable for duty in Vietnam and was being phased out anyhow.

I agree. Peters has a vendetta against Rumsfeld. And the nasty comment about Haliburton/Cheney seems right out of Moveon.org.
