I read where the Officials of the Iraqi Olympic Team are furious with the media, alledging that they embellished the story about Iraqi atheletes having hatred for George Bush. It sounds like it was taken out of context. I can't believe ALL of their atheletes can have that opinion.

I'd love to read that story. All I've heard is the complaining from the Iraqi athletes.
NPR did an interview with one of the Iraqi soccer team members. He sounded very happy with post Uday life. I think you are right. I've only had one close encounter with press ethics and it related to some interviews with an ex girlfriend and her coworkers by a "journalist" for a story. By the time it went to print, the statements had been twisted by taking snippets out of context to the point of being unrecognizable. I learned from that incident to never trust a damn thing the MSM prints.
Well if it's media spin, let's have the Iraqi press interview these guys, on the record, video taped, and play it for us. Because the tide turned on these guys when we heard that and I don't think many Americans wanted them to win after that...and they didn't.
They don't. The original story was based on a quote from the captain of the team and the news-whores just ran with it, throttle wide open, embellishing as needed along the way.
I never believed that first story and said so. Last weekend we still cheered them on despite the propaganda.
It's fun to yell "Go Iraq!!".
