As a vet I really resent his peace protesting.I became a beneficary of being called names myself as result of his actions.

Every vet from that era was spat upon either literally or figuratively because of Kerry/Fonda and their ilk.

How any vet could even consider voting for him is beyond my understanding.

I have a son who has been serving his country in Iraq for a little over a year now and I have hopes that he will be home within a couple of months. Will Kerry have the same derision and lies for these brave Americans as he had for Viet Nam vets?

He's a disgusting piece of trash.

Very Clintonesque. Very dangerous. We are being played.

Pfft. Clinton's a conniving powermad narcissistic piece of trailer trash. He really does feel the pain of the little folks... at least the pain that causes them to go strip clubs and adult bookstores.

Kerry's a pampered insulated blue-blooded boob who lives in some alternate reality where everything is to be granted to him by divine right. He'd make a fine King George III, but little else.

I've given much thought to the notion that we are underestimating JFnK & the MSM. The verdict: no on JFn, yes on MSM. They are completely corrupted to a level I couldn't have comprehended if I hadn't seen it.

I agree that the Clintons want him to bomb, but isn't Chris Lahane on board this train wreck? They are following the play book. Remember how often we thought we had Clinton? Bush must stay above the fray but if this boils down to what Kerry did in Vietnam we lose.

his Vivid memory of MLK's assissination in Vietnam...when he wasn't in Vietnam etc etc &c.

Reminds me of clintons "vivid memories" of church burnings in Arkansas when he was growing up. Then it was found that there were NO churches burned in Arkansas in that time frame.

Not only is Steyn always worth reading, he has to be one of the most prolific writers out there.

His website, www.steynonline.com, self-describes him as "The One-Man Global Content Provider."

Kerry was in the Senate?

Kerry is a Senator in the same manner that Jesse Jackson is a Reverend. He has the title without actually doing the job.

The flaw in the Senator’s strategy to run for president as a plucky 24-year-old Swift boat lieutenant was an obvious one... beginning with the candidate’s disastrous decision at the Democratic Convention to play up Vietnam and play down Iraq, 9/11 and anything else that happened in the last 30 years.

[OK, I messed with the order a bit!]

His military knowledge, though he's plucky and adventury,
Has never been brought up to the beginnings of this century?

You should be very proud of your son, which I am sure you are. When ever I see one of these young men I thank them for what they are doing. I had one tell me that I was the first man that had ever told him that. I have two grandsons in the Navy of whom I am real proud.

If the 527s got yanked from the air, Kerry would be clobbered far worse than Bush, which is all the more reason not to be a big whiny ninny about one lousy ad running in a couple of states.

I love the way Steyn just cuts right to the heart of the matter. Three words JfnK will regret for the rests of his days - "Bring it on".

Is it true that Kerry claimed to have heard MLK was assassinated while commanding a swiftboat in VN Even though it happened long before he was in VN?

Can someone ping me with a link? I've searched but was unable to find.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that after September 2, the cadidates for President are fixed and cannot be changed except by the death of one of the candidates. Even if Kerry resigns, his name will still be on the ballot - it will be like conceeding the election before the election. If I was Kerry I'd stay away from National Parks.

No, No, Sis. He was in Cambodia searing a puppy that got blown into another boat, or something.

You are absolutely correct

Because we live in Wisconsin, a battleground State, we've seen a LOT of Bush material. Lately the ads have been on Kerry's Senate record--on taxes (increase 'em ALL,), on "intelligence" (destroy the CIA), and on terrorism (cut Army funding and advanced equipment purchases.)

These ads are pretty good; not the smarmy stuff which first came out with Laura, etc., etc. These ads smack Kerry right across the chops.

You'll LOVE them when you see them.

with himself as the creamy center. He'll be roasted on his Vietnam puffery by the Swiftvets on one side, and lambasted by on his Senate record by Bush on the other.

Ummmm. S'more of that, please. With a side order of Bob Graham.

Imagine if Bush did that every time Michael Moore or Al Franken released yet another lame Bush-bashing tract...

Bush doesn't need to respond, because the charges are empty. Kerry needs to respond because the charges are true.
