Swift boat leader clarifies taped 1971 conversation

WASHINGTON, D.C. The chief critic of John Kerry's military record told President Nixon in 1971 that he had been in Cambodia in a swift boat during the Vietnam War, a claim at odds with his recent statements that he was not.
According to a conversation that was secretly recorded, John O'Neill said, "I was in Cambodia, sir. I worked along the border."
In an interview Wednesday with The Associated Press, O'Neill did not dispute what he said to Nixon, but insisted he was never actually in Cambodia, just on its border.
O'Niell is co-author of "Unfit for Command," which accuses Kerry of lying about his record.
A Kerry campaign spokesman says the tape, at the National Archives, is "the latest in a long line of lies and false statements" meant to "smear" Kerry's military record.
What an extensive and well researched article /not
Grasping.
But was it "seared" in his memory so that he could conveniently support Nicaraguan Marxists?
This will backfire on them. Any honest person knows exactly what O'Neill meant, and saying this is the "latest in a long line of lies" will only confirm that it's Kerry who's spinning the truth.

Isn't this an example of the pot calling the kettle black? I mean, the leader of liars and falsehoods is outting people. Awesome.
I'm just thrilled that the AP is actually running a story about O'Neill's clarification.
This article sounds like a response for O'Neil's lawyer because of the tone of the headline of the last article.
Amazing Sandy Berger left this alone, eh?
'A Kerry campaign spokesman says the tape, at the National
Archives'shows blah.blah....
whoa ....... ask the 'rat spokesman
what other kerry operatives such as Sandy The Burglar are
doing poking around in the National Archives again and what
information are they stealing/destroying/rewriting ?
Exactly! And why would O'Neill lie to Nixon about Cambodia in the first place? It was just a private conversation. Plus, if he was lying, why did he immediately clarify things by adding the part about being on the border? He had no reason to lie, and no reason to make the clarification if he had been lying. And to top it off, Nixon was Commander in Chief, so O'Neill would have known that Nixon could easily fact check anything he said to him. So why lie about a tangential issue like Cambodia?
Kerry's the one who had ulterior motives and political reasons to make false claims of being in Cambodia. And he did indeed lie about it.
But wasn't Kerry also in Cambodia before he wasn't there?
Imagine the vast fortunes spent by MoveOn.org and the other 16 dem 527's to annihilate the opposition.
Yes I'll bet AP got a call from Ginsberg.
It worked for Hitler.
