ST. LOUIS, Missouri (AP) -- Authorities are searching for a pack of highway stunt motorcyclists blamed for a wreck that seriously hurt five people in a sport utility vehicle.
A handful of motorcyclists were on Highway 364 Saturday when they changed lanes and cut off a Ford Explorer, forcing that vehicle to swerve to the right and hit a Chevrolet Suburban.
The Suburban tumbled down an embankment, ejecting most of its eight occupants. Five people in that vehicle were seriously injured; the other three sustained lesser harm. Only one was wearing a seat belt.
[snip]
By some accounts, a chase vehicle was filming the motorcyclists.
Witnesses said the motorcyclists were "riding wheelies, showing off, doing stunts," with another vehicle following them, Patrol Cpl. Jeff Myers said. He called the antics "total disregard for the safety of others."

Wondering which classification the one wearing the 'seat belt' falls into...
Hooligan Ping . . .
good point, but isnt it true that if you do that you'll probably kill the guy on the bike and wind up in jail?
Probably not. Most people do not consider bikers as people. We are viewed as a little crazy to begin with and if there is a problem, it is our fault. If you don't believe it, read the article again. It appears their behavior, i.e. wheelies, has nothing to do with the accident itself. Trust me, if you are on a motorcycle, the last thing you want to do is play chicken with a car. You loose.
just ask Bill "phantom car" Janklow...
was Kerry nearby acting youthful and sporting...?

You're kidding, right?

You know, something about this story doesn`t make sense. I have never seen a motorcycle cut off a car/truck before. You would have to have bowling balls between your legs to do something that stupid.
If you are on a motorcycle, you know you will always lose a battle with a car, even more with a big SUV or a truck. You also tend to be more aware of your surroundings on a motorcycle than in a car/truck.
My bet is the idiot "stunt" bikers scared the crap out of the driver and he/she swerved away and hit the other vehicle. Then told police he/she was cutoff by the group.
Not saying the motorcyclist are guilt free, but something about this story isn`t adding up with me.
I ment their behavior as it relates to stunt riding. Changing lanes has nothing to do whether you are on one wheel or two (or four).
Agree 100%. A group of us got stopped by Florida Highway Patrol a few months ago for speeding. The officer (read a**hole) stated that the reason he was giving us speeding tickets was in large part because we 'terrorize old people'.

Yeah but you guys play chicken with cars all the time. Just don't try stunts in front of N.J. Acura TLs; it might be me.
My last example was in Italy - fairly recently. I was driving at curising speed on the Autostrade (about 130 kms/hr) in the left hand lane and a motorcycle whizzed by me on the left - in the 18" or so between my car and the guard rail. Now his friend, stuck behind me, has to pull the same idiotic stunt or lose "prestige." I was watching him closely and, as he tried it, I steered 6" to the left - just to see the look on his face. What a panic! I'll bet his pants were yellow as he let him by.
Why not just steer 6" to the right and let him go by? Nothing like attempting murder just to have some fun...
And I'm happy to report, their first mistake hopefully and usually is their last.
oh, and a Brain Bucket isn't neccessary. First requirement is "A Brain".
Yesterday on I-95, in a pretty heavy downpour, there was this bozo on a dirtbike, geared up with a kevlar suit & boots doing 80 with his hand on his face shielding him from the rain pain because he had kevlar, but no helmet. 10 miles down the road, he's 3 feet behind a tractor trailer @65mph again hiding from the rain. He finally pulled over under a bridge. I thought about pulling up behind him, gettin' out an smackin' him in the head for being a jerk, but I was in my pickemup and didn't want to ruin a good day.
Besides, never attack someone wearing armour. Especially for no reason except self-gratification.
So to counter-act his stupidity you thought it was your job to invoke your stupidity. Sounds resonable to me. /sarcasm
