Former Georgia Senator Max Cleland, left, and former Green Beret Lt. Jim Rassmann, center, approach a Secret Service Agent, right, on station at the check point to the entrance of President Bush (news - web sites)'s ranch Wednesday Aug. 25, 2004 in Crawford, Texas. Cleland tried to deliver a letter protesting ads challenging John Kerry (news - web sites)'s Vietnam service to President Bush at his Texas ranch Wednesday, but the Secret Service stopped Cleland short of his goal. Me either. We don't even drop in on our kids unless they invite us.
and... he was dumb... gee lets forget about basic training and pick up this live grenade.... IT WASNT AN ENEMY GERNADE AND IT WASNT IN A FIRE FIGHT
Que the violins...
GRENADE EVEN :)
Oh man, I burst our laughing at work when I saw this. I couldn't help it. ;-)
Though, if you think about it, in Mr. Cleland's case, the only thing that he really could do, would be to tow the line.
I'd like to tell you that I meant to write that that way, though I protest that I can't do so.
Lighten up! Many of us are still laughing our asses off on that report card.
Apparently, he's warm only on one side of his body.
I really, really think Kerry ought to have selected Cleland to be his VP! The share Vietnam in common. Cleland lost limbs fragging himself and Kerry shot himself in the foot!
Read this on your way back home, sir: http://johnkerrythenewsoldier.blogspot.com/
Why wouldn't he give the letter to Mr. Patterson? News reports (fox, even) have spun it that he was turned away and no one would take the letter.
Hahahaha! You too?? LOL!
From Best of the Web:
That '70s Show
"I called the media. . . . I said, 'If I take some crippled veterans down to the White House and we chain ourselves to the gates, will we get coverage?' 'Oh, yes, we will cover that.' "--John Kerry, testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, April 22, 1971
"Kerry is sending to Crawford former Sen. Max Cleland of Georgia, a frequent companion of Kerry's on the campaign trail and a fellow Vietnam War veteran who lost three limbs during the war. Cleland . . . will try to deliver a letter protesting the [Swift Boat Veterans for Truth] ads to [President] Bush at his heavily guarded ranch, Kerry aides said."--Reuters, Aug. 25, 2004
.....and take the rest of your ilk with you!
Sadly, you are not in charge there because that would have been a perfect way for the Pres. to disarm (sorry for the pun) these two Kerry supporters and show courtesy to two decorated vets and ex-Senator.
So why was it not done in such a way?
My guts tell me that the Bush campaign has no intention of removing the ace he thinks he has on this Swift Boat issue and thus could not be seen to accept the letter.
Impune them and destroy them if they complain about your actions or question you...
Yes it's totally believable that you'd send one a vet out without any legs for a political stunt. If you'd stab em in the back and trash them, then you might was well humiliate em too (again).
Democrats really are vermin.
This photo op has no legs.
Bravo.
