The link is to form DD215 deleting "Vietnam Service Medal" from form DD214 and adding "Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze stars". The date on the form is 3/12/2001.

Those stars on the VN Service ribbon stand for different campaigns. Operation 'Market Time', Operation 'Sea Lord' etc. I have 4 on my service ribbon from the same areas F-ing was in, but I had to put in a full YEAR to get them. My service time there was 10/67 - 10/68. I question the green and white stripped Vietnam Ribbon. To the BEST of my knowledge, one had to serve a MINIMUM of 6 months IN-COUNTRY to be awarded that medal.

I know! Got my ass reamed out at the only in-country inspection I ever had there. I was wearing that ribbon after only 4 months in-country and was IMMEDIATELY informed of the error of my ways!!

"Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze stars".

Those are the ones the Vietnamese gave him when he visted them in 2000 -

OK correct me if I am wrong, maybe the Navy is different or maybe it was different back then. But Bronze stars represents the awarding of more than one of the same ribbon correct? Now being generous to Kerry he should have only one bronze star? Unless there is some sort of award say for every 3 months in theatre, but then I thought a full tour was 12 months? I am confused.

Maybe he added the four bronze stars because he thought they were paper fasteners?

Accorcing to U.S. Medals, you qualify also if you were wounded, captured or killed.

Is this the "green and white" medal to which you referred?

http://www.usmedals.com/singleProduct.html?pn=F115

It doesn't get "battle stars", only a date-bar.

Remember he was on some sort of ship named the Gridley for 6 or 7 months in charge of the deck monkeys.

Surely there must be ONE award, medal or ribbon in the Western Hemisphere Kerry has forgotten to beg for, borrow or steal.

Standard rat response: He gave sweat, tears, several bruises and rice in his arse so he can say, unlike the SwiftVets, whatever he likes.

If he wants to say he acquired 400 medals all the power to him. His nuance on issues will make him much more effective at foreign relations and his exaggerations show how creative he can be. He's an anti-war hero and really isn't that the perfect soldier? He was first in line to abort babies with a high powered machine-gun before abortion was even fashionable. He protected the environment from crude huts and demonstrated his style at the same time by burning them down with a Zippo. I mean what more can you want?
