Interesting. When I Googled "Trillian", a link for www.ceruleanstudios.com (66.216.70.167) came up. Then when I clicked on that link, my Norton Internet Security reported they launched a
MSSQL_Null_Packet_DoS attack against me.
You're on your own, kiddo.

Uh-oh. Don't you just love the Norton Internet Security reporting? I'm seeing all sorts of things with it.

Try Quadrillion or Quintillion. Maybe even Sextillion.

True. A good portion of the security alerts I get are from Pwned boxen in China and Korea, along with a smattering of AOL cluebies. I love spanking script kiddies :)

It was already checked...Tanx for trying. I had sounds on Trillian for over a year...suddenly disappeared. Must be a Kerry Trojan!!!
To: Princess G
hmmm, I vaguely remember a setting somewhere to the effect of being able to turn off sounds when minimized.
Anyway, I can't figure why this might have started all of a sudden, but I would tinker and explore your settings.
BTW, I'm sure you've thought of this, but I am assuming you've verified that your sounds are working for other software.

Try switching to MECA. It does what Trillian does, but with less glitches. They also have an auto update function so that when Yahoo, MSN or AOL IMs update to break interoperability, MECA figures it out and updates around the roadblock. Trillian is slower in updating with fixes.

OK, It appears you and others here know what you're doing...
I lost my capability to "view sources" with both my SBC Yahoo browser and IE browser (are they the same?) using windows XP and I HAVE NOT downloaded sp2(probably won't either)
I used to be able to, but suddenly for no apparent reason (unless it was one of those security downloads) I can't. I can if I copy it to "my documents" but who wants to do that everytime?...
Any ideas

I am not familiar with SBC Yahoo browser (I don't like their pseudo-DSL either), and since I don't have a browser with these problems in front of me to experiment with, I can only surmise.
When I "View Source" on my browser, it launches notepad to display the markup. Since this is happening with both of your browsers, I suspect something may be going wrong with a application call to launch notepad. I'm not sure how to proceed though.

To: z3n
Speaking of sound probs......haven't been able to figure out why my built-in mike isn't reporting for duty....sometimes when I close up too quickly, I get a feedback squeal, so I know it's working: it's just turned off somewhere. Any clues where to look in Win98?
To: lentulusgracchus
"Pwned" - an affected spelling of the term "owned", which is a cutesy way to describe something that is compromised and/or not under its owner's complete control.
"boxen" - an affected spelling of the term "box", which refers to a computer connected to the Internet.
So, "Pwned boxen" literally means a group of computers connected to the Internet that have been compromised by a virus or Trojan Horse.

I can't speak to the 'SBC Yahoo browser', but in IE go to Tools-->Internet Options--> and under Temporary Internet Files, click 'Delete Files'. This may take a bit of time.
