A Swift (& deadly) response [Dims Going After Swiftees]
New York Daily News ^ | 8/25/04 | Rush & Molloy

Posted on 08/25/2004 2:11:36 AM PDT by kattracks

Sen. John Kerry called a member of the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth over the weekend to try to reason with him over the group's attacks on his record. But fellow Democrats aren't hesitating to try far more aggressive tactics.

A group of Democratic loyalists is compiling incriminating dossiers on the members of the veteran group - and they sent us a preview of what might be in store for Swift Boat activist James Zumwalt, son of illustrious Adm. Elmo Zumwalt - and it isn't pretty.

Zumwalt "attempted to kill himself with an overdose of prescription drugs," after the murder of his ex-wife's fiance, John Kowalczyk, according to the dossier, which is footnoted to news sources, and was "convicted of reckless driving after chasing Kowalczyk at a high speed on the highway."

Zumwalt stepped into the line of fire when he testified with the controversial Swift vets at the National Press Club in Washington last May.

What was that old chestnut about loose lips sinking ships?

Try this again, for some reason Jon wasn't addressed on my previous reply.

The two of you might want to compare notes and goals re data on the pressitutes.

The 'rats HAD to come up with something. Their shills in the MSM have been running like scared rabbits from examining the Swiftees' charges, and so far their crap hasn't worked. As more and more people hear about this, they need a way to squash the Swiftees without ever addressing the charges.

I think that you two might want to link up to help each other.

Good luck to both of you!

Yup. The Brownshirts are using their Brown Book to once again smear Vietnam veterans. Sick, ain't it?

Getting into the personal lives of people not running for public office is going to backfire - especially if they have had deep, personal troubles. Most people have had personal trials some time during their lives; but most people haven't exaggerated about their military service in order to score political points on the national stage.

As was my father - one of those "other vets".

It is my personal mission in life to see Kerry destroyed as a politician...

There are 250 individuals that make up SBVT. If I were to gather 250 people at random, at least 1 will have some "dark" background, so I don't know what the heck this is going to prove.

It's because anybody who accuses a Democrat has to be a saint. Tom Harkin lied repeatedly about serving in Vietnam, yet the media fails to note this when he calls Cheney a coward. But if you happen to dare to criticize a Democrat, anything in your background can and will be used against you, no matter how irrelevant it is. Disgusting.

As Harold Washington, one-time Mayor of Chicago, once said: "Politics ain't beanbag."

Somebody ought to ask Max Cleland about why the Dems are smearing this vet. After all, Cleland just said today, "To attack a fellow veteran who has distinguished himself ... in combat, regardless of the political combat involved, is disgraceful."

Cleland just said today, "To attack a fellow veteran who has distinguished himself ... in combat, regardless of the political combat involved, is disgraceful."

It seems their definition of disgraceful depends on how much the other person agrees with them. Isn't an attack on any of the SBV's disgraceful by Cleland's own definition? When will Max realize that he's just the DNC's show card? He's obviously not getting the 'bonus points' that Kerry intended.

And the GOP will denounce this attack campaign, sure. The same way they are currently highlighting the Kerry links to their 527s.

As best as I figure, since I just recently started following this and don't know all the players, the Dems are going to 'dig up dirt' on the Swift vets and use it to tar them.
All while screaming about slimeing and smearing.

I just emailed this to Fox news. Not that I think it will do any good but I feel better. Sort of. I included the article. Email as follows:

I just saw this in the New York Daily News. What kind of man does THIS instead of signing a 180 form and releasing all his military records to prove the SBV wrong? This is past unforgivable or dishonorable. These Vets are questioning events in Viet Nam that they were witness to, not Kerrys personal life. These actions only prove that the Swifties are telling the truth and Kerry will do ANYTHING to stop them rather than answer their charges. Compiling so-called personal incriminating dossiers is a communist action and NOT an American one!
